Who is or was the most over rated rugby league player?

I vote for Wally Lewis - he played some good Origin games but with a backline that included Langer, Belcher, Meninga, Miles, Jackson my 14 year old daughter would score heaps of tries.

Before Brisbane entered the NRL competition, Wally was offered heaps of money to come to Sydney but he was worried he would be shown up against the tough Sydney clubs on a weekly basis.

When Lewis had to actually play club football, he came back to earth with a thud. Brisbane even cut him and he finished his career on the Gold Coast as a has been.

Peter Stirling.  Sterling also had super backs outside him and a go forward pack of workers in front of him.  Price and Kenny made stirling look a whole lot better than he was.  I thought Turvey (Mortimer) in the same period, was a more constuctive, more intuitive half, and far more dangerous who with lessor great players around him than Stirling. Both were great but equal defenders

I agree also with Wally being over-rated. In his days of origin, he only had to run on the field for Ray Warren & his channel 9 cronies to start gushing & giving him the man of the match.

Without a doubt Gordon Tallis, he was all talk. I even remember a game when he was smashed by Anthony Minichiello, a fullback.

Anthony mundine - cost the dragons a premiership cos he wanted to showboat.Always talked about laurie daleys old legs.give me daley over choc anyday. He was his own PR agent and still is.

When he was saying he should be aussie 5/8 there were two guys ahead of him at least.

As for wally and club footy, he played in the twilight of his glittering career but i do agree that he played about 14 great games they were just all in origin. The guy was regularly 3 plays ahead of any body else on the field.

I know you are not serious.....cos lots of NSW players tried to get through Lewis, and not many did.

Anyway, are you sure about how tough those sydney clubs really are. I do recall the Broncos winning 44-10 against premiers Manly in their first ever NSW RL match.
