  1. Her name is Camilla Parker Bowels ...Charles and Camilla met 30 yrs ago at a polo match ... he said " my great great Grandmother was your Great,Great Grandfather`s mistress ... so how about it ..??"   she was bowled over .. and went for it ...

  2. the comment about getting together is attributed to camilla not charles ............they met fell in love but as she was seen as pure there fore not wife material for the future king .............however they remained close and we all know the rest without digging it up here ..........

suffice to say they have now married and now seem happy which is all anyone can hope for

  3. Lady Camilla parker bowles Winchester.

  4. Camilla Shand, the daughter of a decorated hero and great-granddaughter of Mrs. Alice Keppell, the favorite mistress of King Edward VII,Charles' great-great-grandfather,first met the prince. She was then dating a polo friend of Charles,Andrew Parker-Bowles.Camilla turned out to be the kind of woman Charles liked, bright, lively,a country woman fond of polo and hunting. It has been said that the two would have married back then, but the prince wasn't ready;he was still in the Navy and gone for long periods of time.Camilla married Parker-Bowles-she did love him, too. And Charles then realized what he'd lost-the woman he really wanted to marry.

They stayed close friends;he became godfather to her first child who was named after him.She became a trusted confidante, who ironically, a long with another trusted confidante, and another married woman,Dale,Lady Tryon, known as "Kanga," chaired a committee to search for marriageable girls who were fit to marry the heir to the throne.

Camilla knew how to flatter the prince, make him feel smart, needed, important. And they also shared common interests. She was always there to listen to him write and rehearse his speeches. Perhaps, for a while, the relationship was platonic, but still too close for Diana's comfort! It felt like three people in a marriage,Camilla there doing what Diana should have done(and Diana wanted to be the one to do it),being a good listener,a supportive friend.

Correction to an earlier post: It was Camilla who reportedly told Charles about her relationship to Edward VII's mistress,"adding a jaunty,"So how about it then?' " page 58 of A Tarnished Crown by Anthony Holden

  5. As I understand it Louis Mountbatten lined her up as a mistress for the young Charles to practice on.

  6. Charlady.
