The most underrated player on your favorite team? And why?

For me... I say Tyler Kennedy for the Pens. He works hard and checks well. Just a great player, but that is what happens when you got players like Crosby, Malkin, Hossa, Fleury on your team.

  1. I can't agree with the people who say that Talbot is underrated. I see interviews on the news with him goofing around ALL the time..

Now, Tyler Kennedy is a different story. Although i would have loved to see him during the SCF to come out onto the ice and start scoring goal after goal - he deserves the attention. he's great at setting up goals for teammates and what not. Plus, the only interview i saw him in was one where he was asked "who's better, Spider man or Super man" and "boxers or briefs" which isn't the type of interview i'm normally interested in.

  2. Sergei Gonchar - why?

im pretty sure everyone knows why,

he doesn't get the attention he deserves.

And also Kristopher Letang, Brooks Orpik & Maxime Talbot

are also very under-rated players on the Penguins.

  3. Favorite team: Pittsburgh

Underrated player: Darn.......this is hard. lol. Tyler Kennedy for one thing. He DID disappoint me in the SCFs but sometimes it takes more than scoring goals....he hit and he fought, which you need those types of guys. He doesn't get the credit he deserves.

Wait....MAX TALBOT. Lordy yes. My final answer is MAX TALBOT. He is one of the hardest working players in the league. My dad, his friend and I call him "energy boy" because he's always so full of energy. I'm not going on....you know Maxy, so I don't need to explain.

    Final answer? MAX TALBOT!

  4. tough one there are so many on pittsburgh i would probably go with talbot or scuderi and most of their defensemen

  5. Kris Letang, yeah Tyler Kennedy, and Maxime Talbot.

  6. Jiri Hudler from Detroit. Look at the playoff points for the wings enough said.

  7. On the Pens-Gonchar! He's the most underrated defenseman in the league....underappreciated, and overlooked...

I'd say Sykora doesn't get as much attention as he deserves either....and Letang is overlooked as well.

  8. on the Pens I'd say Rob Scuderi.  Rock solid stay at home defenseman.

  9. Ryane Clowe or Milan Michalek

  10. I would have said Glen Wesley, but he just retired, so I'll say Tim Gleason. He's emerging as a great shutdown, first pair guy who'll be good for years to come.

  11. I can't really say anyone on my Sabres is underrated.

If and when people get to see what Thomas Vanek is really capable of I'm sure he'll get his due credit. He's coming around.

  12. it was Sammi Kapenen

    now Upshaw or Downey

  13. Anton Volchenkov. He always plays really well, he's an awesome defenseman, and he takes a lot of risks with his body. He leads the league in blocked shots

  14. Paul Gaustad or Jochen Hecht.

Usually a player is underrated for the same reasons as any other player is. They both work hard and give 100% but are usually overlooked by some of the more flashy players who steal the spotlight.

    *He's my favorite also :)

  15. Hudler.  5th highest scorer in the playoffs for the Wings while spending most of his time on the 4 line.

  16. Phoenix Coyotes

Dan Carcillo, even more than Peter Mueller.

Ex. He had at least 3 goals in his last 5 NHL games. He can score, make plays, fight. Of course much of the underrated status he gets is because he takes too many stupid penalty's.

If he can get that under control and improve next season in the points Dept, then I think he will lose the underrated status overtime.

  17. Up until the Cup win.. I would say that everyone on the Wings was under-rated except Lidstrom. My point is that they always win 50 games and always we heard, they cant win the CUP cause they are too soft. We heard for months.. why would they resign a washed up McCarty! Why didnt they make any major deadline trades... now we know! In fact... the Stuart trade (which no one talked about) will now go down as the best of the year.

OH and man did DRAKE show just how crafty a veteran he is and what a battler he is in the playoffs this year! I was happy for him to finally achieve the Pinnacle in the NHL.... he worked so hard his whole career and was one of those guys that wasnt recognized for that work for many years!

ON a side note, I will also say that many of the Wings players would not be as good on other teams. They are hand picked for the system that the Wings play. Then they are developed for 2 and 3 years in the AHL (most of them) until they have the system down pat before they are thrust onto the Roster. Guys like Hudler, Cleary, Filppula, Samuelsson, Lebda would not be as strong  in another system!

And as a note to you, a PENS fan... I was never sold on Fleury until the finals. He still has a bit of maturing to do, but he will be a force for many years to come. Before the playoffs, I was still in doubt and not sold on him. I was also impressed with Malone's toughness.  I hope for your sake they can keep him ( I saw talks began today on signing him) Good luck to you guys next year and I hope we meet each other again in the Finals!

  18. Jonathan Ericsson, or Valtteri Filppula both are going to be stars and outside of pitsburgh and Detroit they just dont know it yet.

  19. Nope. As a Leaf fan I'd have to say most of the team is over-rated. I mean they had NHL jobs, didn't they

  20. my favorite team is the flyers.

the most underrated player on my team is scottie upshall. he is my favorite player but nobody seems to like him. he finishes his checks and comes up with some pretty important goals. i dont think he gets the credit he should ...

  21. For the Leafs, no one. Everybody, with the exception of two (Toskala and Kaberle), are over-rated and underachievers.
