  2. The answer to this question can be found in the Association's By-Laws.  Look under the section that defines limited common elements. It is under this section where you will find what "you" are responsible for and what the "association" or "society" isn't.  Normally the association is responsible for the concealed pipes up to the point of the shut off valve.  From the shut off valve up to and including the faucet or other fixture you are responsible for those items.    

    You are responsible for the limited common elements and the association is responsible for the common elements.

    These rules vary so much from association to association that it is impossible to say with certainty who is responsible for what so check the by-laws for your answer.
