  1. george bush

  2. the American people

the overly right wing government.  I'm not a democrat or a republican.  But Dubya just has this my way or the highway attitude.  He's an idiot.

But it's our fault for voting for him.  It's also OUR fault that we pay for gas.  I personally am boycotting gas prices.  Too many lazy Americans just blame the government for everything and forget that it's THEIR government.

  3. You and me.

  4. Left wing liberals

  5. The Kingpin.

  6. Reagan...

  7. I would say it was all those in the 1960s and 1970s who complained about "the establishment" and demanded "change" but let good old-fashioned selfishness turn their quest for a better nation turn into an orgy of hedonism.

Their failure to come up with a better system than the one they condemned left an environment where cynicism and apathy were more highly valued than involvement.

Their "if it feels good, it is good" mentality paved the way for the decline of traditional values....like actually earning the profits you report and following through on your promises.

They stood by and allowed their "empowerment" culture to become the "entitlement" culture we endure today.

Their "tune out" mantra created the disassociation that we suffer today between "common" people and the government, the military, the economy...and so on.....we were so busy "finding ourselves" that we paved the way for special interests and ambitious profiteers to take over our country.

In short, they made "citizen" a bad word.....In rejecting what they thought was anti-progressive and "old fashioned" they also eliminated many of the positive aspects of American culture that had led to our 20th Century ascendance....

Sorry....I know "It's the Neo-Cons fault" is a neater package....but that's my story and I'm stickin' to it...

  8. AIPAC, mostly.  That lobby is way too strong.

  9. Our congress and our presidents for the last few decades have made policy that have put us where we are today. But are they to blame, or are we to blame. We used to trust them to do the right thing, but now we need to be proactive and check up on them constantly. Bills are introduced into the house and then the senate, and they are voted on by our representatives and senators and some times passed into law without our permission. I say permission, because we can tell our elected officials which way we want them to vote on any bill before it becomes a law. They vote on these bills only along party lines, or in self interest, with no regard for  the people they are representing. We must all contact our senators and representatives about any pending legislation, and tell them that if they vote against our wishes, that  they will not have a job come next election year.

  10. bush, cheney, rice, rumsfeld etc.

  11. We all are. After all, WE elected our "leaders..." and, you get what you pay for.

  12. BUSH!!!

  13. The people that voted him in the second time, stating i think he should atleast be allowed to clean up his mess, we need a war time president, etc. Now look at this mess we in.

  14. The American People.  We cannot act like parasites leeching all of the good things out of the US and complaining about the inconveniences for us along the way.  It is time we start taking responsibility and ACTION........Stop shrugging our shoulders and saying "it is what it is...Nothing you can do about it"  We are giving up everything little by little.  As Hilary put it,  We are like frogs in a pot.......they are turning up the heat slowly and steadily, and before you know it we are boiled!  ( I thought it was a great analogy.  She was referring to gas prices but I think it goes for much more...and I wasn't even going to vote for her!)

  15. It's partly our elected leaders.  They have sold out for money.  And it's partly us for letting them get away with it, and for trusting them, and for buying the c**p they sell us.

Example:  President Reagan had the idea that we could balance the budget by spending -more- and taxing -less.  It was a very popular idea, you can imagine, sort of like one of those fad diets where you lose all the weight you want by eating only chocolate and Mexican food.

Predictably it didn't work.  In fact it was a spectacular failure.  Still, there are a frightening number of people who seem unable to convince themselves that it didn't work.  President Bush is still selling the chocolate-and-Mexican diet, and about 1 in 5 Americans really still believe it!

  16. Advertising men and politicians are dangerous if they are separated. Together they are diabolical.

    Phillip Adams

Americans are the most marketed to people on earth, somewhere they lost sight of the big picture and started looking for a bigger TV and more comforting myths less hard truths, politics became a sad joke played on the people by the marketing men. most American can not tell rhetoric from reality...so all they hear is rhetoric.

  17. It depends on who you ask.  Libs blame Cons and vice versa.  It's a mixed bag.  both parties have made so many mistakes that you can't nail it down to one group.

The worst things effecting the nation are the fault of the American consumer.  The economy is in shambles and good jobs, particularly high paying industrial and manufacturing jobs, are going abroad or to imported labor.

If Americans would buy American made products, the need for American production would rise.  If Americans would refuse to do business with anyone employing illegal immigrants, pay rates would rise.

As it is, the need for US production is declining.  As the need for US made goods declines, the jobs go oversees.  The ones that stay are financially devalued.

That is the real reason for the economic slump that we are in.  Inflation is occurring, as it normally does, in large masses.  Pay rates are not increasing.  If you remove the pay rates of the top 10%, rates are actually dropping.  It is because people refuse to buy American and people refuse to force illegal immigrants to leave or become citizens and work for a living wage.

  18. I think it is the republicans and the democrats in congress's fault because nothing gets done because no one can agree on anything.

  19. What wrong path is that? Are you a Clinton baby so everything has been all bright and cheery since your birth. Read some history.

  20. well....frankly....many leaders and presidents that died so long ago,I'd say 90% of you don't even know a thing about them...And since history(other than recent) seems to be a "lost art" nowadays....we don't have time to go into it. Go read!
