  1. I'd check the policies manual about this, maybe check with corporate.

  2. Apparently YOU are.  What the boss says, Goes.  Though to be sure, if they already gave yout the day off, it seems a bit "spilled milk"-ish for them to then turn aroudn adn say "YOU have to find a replacement"  but in work, as in most of life, you gotta do what the bosss says.

  3. Any pragmatic employer will assume the responsibility when an employee needs an unscheduled day off, whether it's for personal business, pleasure, or illness. How can an employee be responsible for finding a replacement? (S)he has no idea if the replacement might even show up. And what if the replacement has already worked 40 hours - will the boss be real happy about having to pay time-and-a-half for overtime?

Every employee needs a day off once in a while, sometimes unexpectedly, and sometimes for personal reasons. A smart employer will maintain a "back-up crew" or some kind of "temp" service, or will make arrangements to fill the void. What if the employee finds a replacement that the boss isn't happy with? What happens if the replacement screws up? That's all part of management's responsibility....it's not the employee's problem, especially if (s)he was given permission to take the day off in the first place.                                                            -RKO-

  4. The employer.

  5. If you booked it off it should be the employers responsibility. Is this a set schedule that never changes? if the answer is yes then it is your responsibility. Illness is another matter though just to clarify. A genuine Illness is the responsibility of the employer

  6. Management.
