I'd say the average woman is a lot stronger. She endures pregnancy and childbirth again and again . A man will cringe at the sight of his own blood much less the thought of pasing a marble sized kidney stone .

If you are speaking of averages, an adult male is always going to be physiologically stronger than an adult female.

As for 12-year-olds, I'm unsure. I was taller than all the boys in my class at age 12 (they surpassed me at around age 14). Physical strength, I don't  know when that changeover happens.

At 12 years old girls are usually bigger than boys phjsycially but it all comes down to the individual, genes and how their body works efficiently.

On average physically, a man is stronger than a female except in the legs.   On average, a woman is stronger in her thigh muscles in particular than a man, but way under the upper body strength of a male.  Females are emotionally very much stronger than males in general (stoic behaviour does not constitute strength) and are able to bear physical pain better than a male.  Mentally/intellectually, they are about equal in strength.

Kids are better matched in strength alot of the time. But once we reach adulthood, the vast majority of men are stronger physically - as in, they can lift bigger things and open jars better - than the vast majority of women. That's just the way it goes. It isn't sexist, it is reality.

Body builders don't count - their strength is artificially gained through the use of steroids. Anyone can turn into the incredible hulk with steroids, male or female. The question is, which one looks more nightmarishly abnormal? LOL

EDIT - Cribber, women aren't more emotionally strong than men are! LOL We generally get offended and hurt and bothered much more easily than men do. Of course, there are exceptions, and men feel deeply as well. But emotionally women are a bit more "tender" than men are. I think it's part of the whole maternal instinct thing.

My sister was in martial arts when she was in grade 7 and 8. She would routinely get into fights with the boys in her class. But, she did her time in the female role as well just whn she got older. Now she has a brush hair cut and bleaches it blonde and mostly wears dresses to work (past the knee or knee long).

Boy. But it does vary occasionally. Like when I was 12... I did many horrible things to the guys in my class because of the way they mentally abused me at a younger age. Even with all other things being equal, a woman only has 66% of a man's lower body strength...

its actually quite a difficult question to answer.

women have always had an inner strength which i believe has been held back by the physical bullying of man. times have now changed and i think that the real strengths of women, are beginning to come to the fore, and rightfully so.
