you or the therapist?

My husband and I have been going to couples therapy for about 2 months, and at the end of our meeting, the therapist mentioned if we ever needed therapy again to call her, but didn't offer to make an appointment like we usually do. We had mentioned we didn't really know what to talk about during the session, but I am still struggling with depression and told her.

  1. I agree with everything the first post said. I will add that if you're having trouble with depression, that's an issue for individual therapy, maybe the therapist can recommend someone or may be able to do it herself.  It doesn't sound, technically, like she terminated therapy, but maybe she thought you two weren't into it, because you didn't talk about a lot I think you should talk to her and ask what's up.

  2. It  can  be  you  if  you  know  what  to  do  already  and  can  continue  on  your  own  or  if  the  therapist  say  like  what  he  just  said  and  probably  thinks    you  guys  are  OK   now  to  be  on    your  OWN .... ASK ???

  3. The patient/client usually decides when to stop therapy, but the therapist also has the right to stop.  In fact, there are certain situation in which the therapist is ethically obligated to stop.

That does not seem to be the case here though.  Forgive me for saying so but I think you are being over-sensitive.  Your therapist invited you and your husband to call her if you ever needed therapy again.  You or your husband could easily have asked for another appointment right then and there.

Good luck with your depression.  Been there, done that.  It's a long road to recovery, and there are sometimes lapses.  Be kind to yourself, please, and give yourself every chance.  If you like this therapist, ask for another appointment.  If, for whatever reason, things don't work out with this therapist, seek help elsewhere.
