  1. That answer will be decided by mid-september

  2. I think it's a tough fight between K Rod and Carlos Quentin.  By July I was rooting for Josh Hamilton but Texas has gone nowhere and it's because of how K Rod has handled the late innings for the Angels.  Quentin has been a great asset for the White Sox and their run towards the Central.

And be careful with Justin Morneau. He might enter this again like he did before, really quietly.

  3. My favorites are Carlos Quentin and Josh Hamilton.

I like Quentin because I am a White Sox fan,and I remember looking at his stats from last year and being like "ok,this guy looks like he will be somewhat of an injury prone to my team and it doesn't look like he can contribute much".Now I've realized that you can't judge by a players' numbers.I mean at the beginning of the season,I bet no one ever said "Carlos Quentin will lead the AL in homeruns."

I like Hamilton for obvious reasons, the "feel good story".I don't think I am ever going to forget the 2008 Homerun Derby because of what he did (even though he didn't win). I remember once he got to the 20-HR mark in the first round,I was stunned and was saying "no way" over and over and shaking my head after every one after that.Once he broke Bobby Abreu's record,I was astonished. That guy proved that night that he isn't going to be remembered as the baseball player that did drugs, but that he's going to be remembered by what he does in this game and in the game only.

  4. If you just want the best performance by a player, it's Grady Sizemore.

MVP has nothing to do with who is in a playoff race or not

Most: greatest in quantity, extent, or degree

Valuable: having monetary value, having desirable or esteemed characteristics or qualities, of great use or service

Player: a person who plays a game

So, a person who plays a game exhibiting the greatest amount of desired qualities.

For baseball, that player is Grady Sizemore, here's why:

He is a great hitter. (Almost 3 wins above an average player at the plate)

He plays a difficult defensive position. (The only more scarce position than CF is Catcher)

He is one of the best defensively at that position. (93% in zone plays, and 76 out-of-zone plays this year, his best defensive year also)

On top of that, he steals a lot of bases. (35 steals to 4 times caught)

If you could have any player's performance this year on your team, you'd want Sizemore. He's about 4.5 wins above an average player, which is a tremendous difference.

    Here's the top 10.

    1. Grady Sizemore

    2. Cliff Lee

    3. Curtis Granderson

    4. Joe Mauer

    5. Nick Markakis

    6. Alex Rodriguez

    7. Carlos Quentin

    8. Milton Bradley

    9. Roy Halladay

    10. Josh Hamilton

    ************EDIT***********

No, I'm a Mariners fan, and also a Rays fan. Cleveland just happens to have the 2 best players in the AL in 2008, despite their team as a whole is terrible

  5. Grady Sizemore, because he is the first Indian, in their team history, to put up 30 homeruns, 30 doubles, and 30 stolen bases in a season!!

  6. Hopeing either Pedroia or Youkilis.

    Go Red Sox!!

  7. Quentin is having a dominate season but if the White Sox fall out of the race and are overtaken by the Twins i think he would lose his chance at winning the MVP. Hamilton's team the rangers isn't even in the race, hes a great story but without making the playoffs its almost impossible to win the MVP. Krod unlikely for pitchers to win the MVP but if he beats the record he could be in the running. Pedroia is dominating right now and if he keeps it up he could win it the MVP highly unlikely for a second baseman to win it but he is deserving. Youkilis deserves it just as much because he can play almost any position works hard and bats phenomenally well and has gold glove defense. Personally i would like to Cliff Lee win the MVP because he is just tearing up the league with his pitching i mean he has 20 wins and only 2 loses has an era under 3 and is a great story for a team that has flopped that had high expectations and the fact that he was in  the minors last year

  8. Hamilton or Quentin will probably win it but Pedroia is on fire lately he's batting .512 with 4 HR 15 RBI in his last 10 games.

  9. I don't think Hamiltom will win.  the MVP award is for the player who makes the biggest difference in his team's ability to win.  Voting for Hamiltom would just be a vote for the best offensive season and there is a seperate award for that.   Whith that being said I like Carlos Quentin.  If Jerry Owens wasn't hurt I don't beleive he would have had the opportunity to play as Owens would have been in center and Swisher would have been in left.   Quentin has come out of nowhere and has been a great contributor.   We already knew what the Red Sox would be getting with Pedroia as we seen it last year as well and Youkilis has always been solid.  The Withe Sox had no idea Quentin would be what he has been and he has allowed the White Sox to move Swisher to Center and provide production from a position they weren't sure about.  And yes I am speaking about BEFORE the Griffey trade.
