  1. this year if furcal was not hurt

but have to go with chad billingsley

  2. I'm not sure what you're asking here. Duke Snider is probably the top position player in franchise history, and Koufax the best pitcher.

  3. That's a tough but interesting question. Right now, because of the youth movement, I think they have more than just one franchise candidate, which is Russell Martin, Matt Kemp, Chad Billingsley, and hopefully Clayton Kershaw, who is capable of measuring up to be the next Orel Hershiser. They all are under the Dodgers' contract for a long time so be expecting one of them to be the face of the Dodgers.

Also, the Dodgers could sign Manny Ramirez to a long-term contract, which will indeed make him the Dodger's franchise player but it's up to the owner, McCourt, to decide on that.

  4. Orel Hershiser is the franchise player.

  5. andruw jones - fo shizzle.

  6. Well, let's see, you're giving Robinson a lot of credit for being a pioneer, deservedly so, by playing at such a high level right from his start in 1947.

Sandy Koufax reached a peak that few will ever see, 3 cy young awards in 4 years, 1963, 1965, 1966.

Gibson was a true clutch player and had one of the biggest moments in Dodger history, in one swing turning a near-certain loss into a thrilling win and turning the momentum in the Dodgers favor to win the 1988 world series.

But a Franchise Player?  I don't think so.

Don't mention Nomo and Cey in the same breath with those guys.  They were good, but not great.  Orel was great, but not for very long.  You don't become the franchise in one magic season.

Scioscia?  Accomplished a lot, but mainly taught kids how to cheat by blocking the plate without having possession of the ball.  Read the rules someday.  Sickens me to see him on this list.

You want a franchise player for the Dodgers?  There is one.

Roy Campanella came up in 1948 and joined Jackie as an all-star that year.  He was a step ahead of Jackie on integration, not a year behind.  In 1946 Campy and Don Newcombe were playing in Nashua for Walter Alston when Walt got tossed out of the game.  Roy took over as manager, the FIRST BLACK MANAGER IN PRO BASEBALL HISTORY, used pitcher Newcombe as a pinch-hitter in th 7th inning.  Newk hit a game-winning home run.

Won 3 MVP awards, in 1951, 1953 and 1955, a pretty solid peak, even holds up pretty well compared to Sandy.

In the 1955 World Series, the Dodgers were down two games to none.  In game 3 he tied it on a two-out, two run homer, they went on to win.  He hit another to win game 4 and they eventually went on to beat the Yankees in 7.  Clutch is....

Yeah, like Jackie and Koufax, he had short career, though none through any fault of their own.  But for those 10 years Roy Campanella was THE Franchise player for the Dodgers.

  7. idk any players who they are id say manny for this year

  8. Jackie Robinson

  9. Jackie Robinson is the greatest out of all of those players since he was the first black person to play baseball on a all White Team and he is a great HOF (Hall Of Famer) Player.

(I'm white but i give respect to all races.)

  10. u mean who are? franchise player means players that played for his team all career 4 example the mets franchise players are david wright reyes murphy pelfrey.
