  1. Beijing Norton has answered another person who asked this question and provided evidence. This is one of the links (see 5th paragraph from the bottom).  I admit this was driving me crazy so I kept checking back here to see if anyone knew when googling didn't provide the answer!

I agree with Vicki M that he is doing a terrific job, but it isn't Darrell Eastlake...

  2. To me, it sounds a lot like Garrison Keillor of A Prarie Home Companion, but I'm not 100%.

  3. I'm sure he is Australian

  4. I was trying to find out the same thing when I came across your question.  It sounds very much like Michael J. Lafave, who announces for the Westminster Dog Show.  He has an extremely distinctive voice which is deep and resonant with a slight accent.  I cannot find confirmation but both public address announcers have really similar voices and I would not be surprised if they were the same person.

  5. His name is Darrell Eastlake, and yes he's an Australian.  He has worked for more than 2 decades in sports journalism and particularly in calling all sorts of sporting events.  He's quite the celebrity in Aus.   He recently left the employ of channel 9 in Sydney and was immediately snapped up by the Beijing broadcasting team.  Personally, I think he is doing an excellent job.
