  1. Go to youtube and type in tim russert and over the rainbow and you can hear it. It is a hawiian artist from the 60's i think. I can't remember his name.

  2. I am very familiar with the rendition, and saw the beautiful memorial service as well.  It is definitely by Israel Kamakawiwo'ole, who died in 1997.  NBC played the song again yesterday at the end of Meet the Press.  It is too bad that they did not tell viewers who the artist was.  I think many people would have appreciated the parallels between these two amazing men who each died tragically before their time.  You can find IZ's albums in lots of places, including online.  He did a couple of different recordings of the song.  On his CD "Facing Future", "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" is actually combined with "What a Wonderful World," and it is a stunning medley.  I've heard it many many times and it still brings tears to my eyes.  It captures so much of the wonder and beauty of life, and it is so bittersweet to listen to, knowing that the artist died so young.

  3. I think it was Don Ho, the Hawaiian crooner whose theme song was "Tiny Bubbles." Get it on Lime Wire.

  4. I haven't heard the rendition on Tim Russerts i-pod but I would bet it is probably a Hawai'ian artist by the name of "IZ" or Israel Kamakawiwo 'ole. Beautiful isn't it? Iz died in 1997 at the age of 38..R.I.P. IZ
