When I was in grade school I remember studying a poem, but I can't find its author anywhere now.

It goes something like this:

I ate your tomatoes

I know you were saving them

I'm sorry they were delicious

  1. I think you may mean the following poem:

    This Is Just to Say

    by William Carlos Williams

    I have eaten

    the plums

    that were in

    the icebox

    and which

    you were probably

    saving

    for breakfast

    Forgive me

    they were delicious

    so sweet

    and so cold

  2. It sounds like a variation on a very famous poem by William Carlos Williams called "This is just to say."

    I have eaten

    the plums

    that were in

    the icebox

    and which

    you were probably

    saving

    for breakfast

    Forgive me

    they were delicious

    so sweet

    and so cold
