If you say Mark Messier you are a huge fool. The dude left Edmonton to captain the rangers for more money and then left the rangers, when his buddy Wayne showed up, for Vancover for more money. That guy is not a captain, he is a good hockey player who is bald and likes money more than leadership!

  1. I guess I'm a huge fool.

  2. 1. Yzerman

    2. Messier

    3. Super Mario

  3. Stevie Y... he always sticks out as a great captain to me!

  4. Yzerman or Gretzky

  5. Messier's captainhood in Vancouver has to be looked at. I think that drops him down the list. Lemieux, Yzerman and Gretzky are ahead of him on the list,

  6. Scott Stevens!!!  He owned the Devils, and they did pretty well with him there.

  7. Messier was a good captain. I wish the Sens had someone like him to shut Ray Emery up so he wouldnt act like a total jackass. Alfie is tooo quiet.

Yzerman, Scott Stevens, Scott Niedermayer, Mario Lemieux, Wayne Gretzky, Niklas Lidstrom and who can forget Joe Sakic

  8. Steve Yzerman IMO

  9. Yeah Messier always gets a thumbs down from me. Stevie Y was top notch. Either Scott Stevens or Neidermeyer for the Devils 3cups as a distant second from S.Y.

  10. Super Mario/ Mario Jr.

  11. Steve Yzerman, for sure.  No doubt about it.

  12. Messier

  13. i hate bald people. squinting gives me headaches.

congrats, bonus points for your cleverly - worded, leading question. you fooled me.

  14. How can you say Mark Messier is not a good captain!!! u obviusly do not know your hockey.....One of the biggest leaders in any sport...Messier all the way or Yzerman

  15. I'd have to say Yzerman; entire career with one team...not a loud guy by any means, but quietly went about being a solid captain.

  16. Steve Yzerman. He made Sergei Federov. Feddy wore 91 cuz it was the reverse of Yzerman's 19.

  17. Steve Yzerman is THE Captain.  Forcing the early development of Cindy Crosby by making him the youngest player to be named captain and an attempt at fabricating the new "Steve Yzerman/Wayne Gretzky/Mario Lemieux/Savior of Hockey" has already failed miserably.

Steve Yzerman, almost single-handedly, turned around 20 years of failure.  Steve Yzerman made the Red Wings who they are today, and is a reason why so many players have been successful in Detroit.  No Captain has ever sacrificed so much while being so classy, so humble, and so hard working.  He asks nothing, expects nothing, and gives everything.  Steve Yzerman was everything you would want in a captain and personified the word "leadership".  There will never be a captain greater than Stevie Y.  Not Cindy, not Joe Sakic, not Mark Messier, not even Nicklas "Mr. Norris" Lidstrom.  Most selfless player ever to play the game, and quite possibly the most influential player in Red Wings history (yes I understand there are about 30 other influential legends).

  18. Yzerman

    No question about it.

  19. How about.... WAYNE GRETZKY!!!

How could no one say this, you people are fools and disappoint me.
