NRL or Rugby League, which is it?  Ruby League started in 1908 and NRL only started in 1998, so it would have to be someone between 1998 and now.  

brisbane have won 3 in that time and melbourne 2, so I guess the best player could be from one of them.  My estimate would be Andrew Johns.

I'm going for the most influential forward - Glenn Lazarus. Started with Canberra in 1987 - they had never won a comp - went on to win in 1989, 1990 and runners up in 1991. Went to Broncs in 1992 - again a team who had never won a GF - and they won in 1992 and 1993. Joined Melbourbne in 1998 - another team that had never won a premiership and they won in 1999. Hard to beat a player that wins 5 premierships with 3 teams that had never won a thing prior to him coming along.

well nrl players say mel meninga is the best but i never seen him play. but my favourites are... the ones that make me sit on the edge of my seat and make me want to play nrl even though my favourite sport is basketball are hodges, fulao, bowen, ingles, slater, maybe hunt... oh and sonny bill
