  1. Barry Sanders

  2. Has to be Sanders!!!

  3. Jim Brown hands down

  4. Barry Sanders.

  5. in my opinion walter payton

  6. Jim Brown , he played like 9 seasons 4 of which were 12 game seasons the rest 14 games.

  7. me. lol

  8. Walter Peyton.  Sounds cliche', but that guy could do it all... run (obviously), catch, throw and best of all, block.  He had no fear running, or throwing a block downfield, and was good at picking up the blitz.

Running backs today (mostly the overpaid ones) are too chickensh!t and/or not interested in doing anything that doesn't include touching the football.  You don't get those performance escalators to kick in by blocking.

There will never, ever be another Sweetness, no one will even come close... no matter how many yards they run for, or all-purpose yards they gain.

  9. Some will say Jim Brown, but my opinion Barry is the greatest here is why:

    Career Stats:

    Rushing Yards :  15,269

    Average :  5.0

    Touchdowns :  109

    10x Pro Bowl selection (1989, 1990, 1991, 1992, 1993, 1994, 1995 1996, 1997, 1998)

    10x All-Pro selection (1989, 1990, 1991, 1992, 1993, 1994, 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998)

    1997 Co-NFL MVP

    1997 NEA NFL MVP

    1997 Co-PFWA NFL MVP

1989 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year

    1988 Heisman Trophy

2x NFL Offensive Player of the Year (1997, 1994)

    2x Bert Bell Award (1997, 1991)

Holds 10 Detroit Lions Team Records

  10. Pure runner is Sayers or Sanders...all around back is Payton.

  11. Barry was the best and the lions wasted his career.

Sweetness and Jim Brown were amazing as well but they were surrounded by good teams.

  12. Marcus Allen had the best fundamentals of any back.

  13. Walter "Never Die Easy" Payton hands down. He played on some pitiful teams and look at the numbers he rang up. What could he have done if he had a line like Emmitt Smith had? He was also a much more complete player in blocking, catching, throwing. Most importantly he emphasized the team, and not the individual. Barry was also a great RB, but he wasn't as complete as Walter.

  14. walter "sweetness" payton

  15. Emmitt Smith

  16. Some say Jim Brown, but could you imagine the numbers Barry Sanders could have put up if he had a good offensive line in front of him?!

  17. Walter Peyton No Doubt About It

    GO BEARS!!!

  18. Walter Payton. Sanders ran backward as much as he did forward.

  19. Ladainian Tomlinson baby!lol More like Walter Peyton

  20. your all wrong its Earl campbell
