  1. Unless a company out there is going to use radio to bring the T1 to you, you might as well as stick with Verizon.  Anybody that sez they can deliever a wireline T1 to you is most likely going to have Verizon on the last mile.  T1s are usually charged by the mile.  It is possible for you to order DSL at a T1 rate where you are charged by the time you are logged in.  In otherwords, if you log into you service provider at 8pm, surf the internet until 10pm and the go to bed without logging off,... you're going to have to pay up to the time you physically logged off, even if it was the next afternoon.

Best price can only be found by doing competive shopping,...

1.) What format? (ie., SF or ESF framing, AMI or B8ZS linecoding...)

2.) Point-to-point T1, where's your starting address and you ending address (distant end).  They are going to most likely charge by the mile.  Hopefully it will be in the same area code.  That way only one T1 provider.  If you have to go outside the area code (or as we say outside the LATA), you going to have to order the circuit first from a long distance carrier who will then give you the option of having Verizon drop it off to you or you can order the drop off circuit from Verizon separately.  I would suggest in this case have the long distance carrier order everything end-to-end.  Less hassle.

3.) If you live in the city, good news,... T1 service is fairly reliable.  If you live way out in the country side or on the mountaintop, bad news, service not the most reliable.  In these areas T1 service is bought to you by copper lines not fiber.  The repeater cans along the way on these circuits are subseptable to lightning strikes and surges.  The further away from the phone company central office the worst the T1 line gets.  It use to be that Verizon had to deliever a T1 at 0db level which is roughly 6Vpp.  Not any more, you may get it as low as 2Vpp.  Somebody didn't have the ball bearings to tell a Verizon executive that most communications equipment doesn't run very well at those levels. (Three cheers for the spineless brown-nosers and yes-men)

In short... call Verizon and talk to a human being, NO computers, must be human.  Explain what you want, from point A to point B and discuss it with the Verizon rep.  If there are other carriers in the area, use what you have learned from your talk with Verizon to get the same type of information.  I couldn't tell you what the best price or service is because it varies due to location and age of the lines being used.  Good luck.
