Both are good in their own ways. Mamooty's film is for thinking, dealing about some cause. While Mohanalal's film is for entertaining and the 2 1/2 hours you will really enjoy. Generally Malayalam films are based on problems or festivities happenning in normal people life. Their song sequence based on carnatic style is good. I like  to watch Malayalam movies even though I am not a malayalee.
