First, let me clear that there are several talented artists in Malayalam cinema, and most are overlooked because they don't have "hero" looks or have been typecast in supporting roles (like Jagathy, Thilakan, Oduvil Unnikrishnan, to name just a few).  

I have always had a soft spot for our Lalettan, also known as MOHANLAL, who is sort of an enigma when it comes to acting, given the ease at how he adapts himself to each character role he has done.  Though i have to admit, in past nine years or so, he has acted in quite a lot of "c**p" movies, but that does not negate the fact that he is a truly versative actor, who adapts to whichever role is given to him, if you look at the range of roles he has done, it is truly commendable.
