  1. julio cezar chavez

    sal sanches

  2. Ray Robinson, not just for his boxing ability and power punching but for his grit and ability to take a good shot.

  3. ALI Hands Down

  4. I can't believe nobody put this guy on the list but ABUMMER you got the Rocky part right but its not Balboa its Marciano Rocky Marciano was the best fighter in his prime in my opinion and is the only heavyweight champion to end his career undefeated its a shame his life was cut short by a plane accident.

  5. Tyson, although I don't think he even had time to reach his prime.  If Cus Demato had been able to train him for his entire career I think boxing would have been changed forever.  But despite this he was still great and fun to watch for several years so I really can't say anyone other than Tyson without lying to myself.  I do enjoy Mayweather's style of fighting but I don't really think he has any competition.

  6. Ray Robinson or Willie Pep.

  7. Manny Pacquiao!

  8. My first instinct is to mention Ali. History tells us we did not see Ali in his prime because he was banned from boxing since he would not fight in the Vietnam war. Therefore, I would argue we never saw Ali in his prime.  Sugar Ray Robinson and Leonard where best in their prime. It was how the won, who they fought and how they lost fights and to whom.  Together they were the gold standard for boxers. Mayweather never had the rivalries, I can't take anything from him, but his competition is not memorable, but his style of fighting and record is up there, but not the best ever.

In hindsight, Tyson was a bully. The Buster Douglas fight showed his character in the ring, which was good as he took a whippin, but he proved to be a knockout puncher who ranks up there with the greats, but his boxing skills will forever be suspect.

I gotta mention Larry Holmes, Ray "Boom Boom" Mancini, "Marvelous" Marvin Hagler and Thomas "Hitman" Hearns, they made the boxing game in the 80's an honorable and creditable sport.  The fights the rivalries and the commitment to win in the ring spoiled the boxing fan. What we have now in the heavyweight division, middle weight is increasingly overshadowed with "cage fighting" and "ultimate fights."

  9. ROCKY BALBOA! WHOOOOT!

  10. Sugar Ray Robinson

  11. ali was the greatest athlete and sportsman boxing has ever seen but sugar ray robinson cant go without a mention 202 fights 92 straight wins longest winning streak ever

also mention of thomas hearns the only boxer to ever win belts in seven different weight catagories

and my personal fav however by no means the best boxer joe calzaghe under-rated but still one of britians best

ps. if joe had been an englishman he would have been recognised worldwide along time ago their cling on to any talent like amir khan who yes is a bloody great boxer but has a chin thats never been tested and in my own opinion is made of glass

  12. roy jones jr.

    manny pacquiao

  13. 1. sugar ray robinson, 2. muhummad ali, 3. pernell whitaker, 4. floyd mayweather jr,   5. roy jones jr.,

  14. joe lewis

  15. floyd mayweather
