You specify England and are obviously looking for an opinion as opposed to statistics as you could have looked them up yourself.

So...in my opinion..as a bettor... the best trainer would be one who tends to have a horse win when the Money is Down.

In this category amongst the higher trainers would be either Richard Hannon or Sir Mark Prescott.

On a balance of probability, with far more horses in his stable, I guess I would have to come down on the side of Richard Hannon who has all the guile and cunning of his late father Harry and seems to be passing it on to Richard junior.!!!!

Henry Cecil,Michael Stoute,Godolphin(they are a big team) and a small trainer who has retired a couple of years back called Nigel Smith,he had results when it mattered(the money was down) and his horses all looked well,fit and happy.

At the moment Sir Michael Stoute heads the GB trainers list with £1,655,105 in prize money.

However the trainer with the best strike rate is (believe it or not) Saeed bin Suroor (Godolphin) with a 25% strike rate having sent out 27 winners from 108 runners.

On a personal level I am a huge fan of Jeremy Noseda and the master of them all - Henry Cecil.
