Who is the best non-American, non-British poet?

I have to annotate at least TWO poems by a non-American, non-British poet (and write a one page outline of the poet with essential data such as dates, place or origin, era, etc). I don't know who I should research. Any recommendations? Thanks in advance!

You don't say if the poet has to be an English speaker. I will assume not. What about a French poet? Victor Hugo:
