  1. Tough question.

I think Will Power and Oriol Servia are probably a bit farther ahead due to the money that KV racing has to offer. Graham Rahal is going to be a great driver in time, ( regardless of who he drives for) Justin Wilson is also a super road racer.

Servia has really improved ahead of the curve on the ovals where Will Power still looks a bit "spooked" on ovals.

After the next 5 road/street races and a full off season of development with the new teams and the Dallara , things will sort themselves out. I really think next yearis going to be MUCH more competitive and then soon we'll forget that old "champ car" word.

Also, many of these teams were only able to score one single Dallara and when you don't have a back-up car, I'd guess your attitude behind he wheel could be influenced a bit.

KV now has back up cars and Dallara has increased production so all the teams can have extra chassis next year for sure. Next season will be the TRUE guage as to where the "new" guys stand in the IRL.

    EDIT>>>>

Let us not forget....when you only have ONE car, the team has to switch configuration from oval to street in one week, then maybe "back again" for next week....having a "spare" that is almost ready for street racing really makes the weekly duties of the team much easier to deal with. All the big teams have a car that is ready for roads.... think about it, if you have one  that car is doing real well on ovals, then you have to switch the front and back wing, the brakes are different for road racing, your guys have to switch all those parts back and forth.....now your " good oval car" has to be rebuilt TWICE in a week to accomadate the different venues...( do you think you can put that GOOD OVAL CAR back together JUST LIKE IT WAS ?)...it's tough right now for the new teams and I'm rooting for them for sure....5 of the last 8 races this season contain right hand turns.. this half will be better than the first half...trust me..

Mark these words.....Next year is going to be great for the IRL.

My hopes are that this issue will prompt more chassis and engine companies to get involved. It was only a year or so ago that Ganassi( 3 wins in a row for Dixon) was still running their Panoz chassis on the roads ( and winning in the Panoz)...I'm proud of the measures being taken to improve this series and soon we'll have two awesome series of racing in  America with  NASCAR and the IRL...it will take time but did you see the crowds at Iowa and Richmond?.....things are improving and I'm happy.

  2. I think Graham Rahal has a lot of potential, but I think overall Servia seems like the best Champ Car driver.  I'm excited to see how they do at Watkins Glen.  I think one of the Champ Car guys is gonna win it.

  3. Will if PT could hook up with a ride.  I find it very strange Paul Tracy has yet to find an IRL ride

  4. Justin Wilson easily... woulda been Bourdais if he hadn't made the jump to F1. Both are lightyears ahead of the others for now, though Rahal should improve with experience.

  5. too soon to tell
