Who is the best player in the afl?

Well thats a hard one, I mean how could you compare someone like jonathon brown probably one of the most dominant forwards to say a chris judd? both absolute superstars but totally differing players with different roles.

For my money its between Goodes and Pavlich,

For these reasons,

Both can play dominantly in the midfield

Both can dominate Key roles in the backline

Both can dominate Key roles in the forward line

Goodes has won 2 brownlow medals

Pavlich is the only player to ever win all australian selection as a Back, Forward and Midfielder, Its a massive wrap to gain selection in one position but all over the ground?, demonstrating what a truly versitile player he is. His consistancy at the top cannot be questioned has not missed all australian since 2002 and has either won or been runner up for freos best and fairest since 2002 can you think of anyone in the afl who has been that good that consistantly over that length of time? Chris judd an absolute superstar no question but you could only use him as a midfielder, (possibly the best midfielder ever) but you really couldnt match him up on barry hall or jonathon brown now could you or sit him in the square at full forward.

Very hard to seperate Pav and Goodes but will have to give it to Pav by a whisker, just because of his consistancy goodes although won a brownlow in 03 and again this year and is a mirror image player had a couple of years 04 and 05 where he was good but not outstanding but pavs been at the top for the last 5 years and shows no signs of slowing down.

I would also add Ben Cousins & Matthew Pavlich to that list. My favourite player is Pav.
