Question:

Who is the best power forward of all time?

Some say Duncan is, some say Garnett is, others say Karl Malone. My father to this day claims Kevin McHale is the best power forward, but I think he is insane. I don't consider Larry Bird a power forward. In my opinion, Tim Duncan is the best ever but you can make a great case for either Garnett or Malone either.

Whoever gives the best EXPLANATION or ANALYSIS will get the best answer. I don't care who you can pick so long as you can back it up.

  1. Dennis Rodman. The dude was the best rebounder ive ever seen. Id also say he was the best rebounder of all time. Reason why i think he was the best is because he complemented Jordan and Pippen's style of play very well. Dennis knew where and when to set picks for them, and where to position himself for a rebound in case they missed.

  2. Charles Barkley. He could score, was a great rebounder was mean but not weird like Rodman. Plus he was only 6'4.

  3. I would say if you are asking about the best power forward of all time why are people talking about championships?  If that's the case Malone & Barkley have none, Garnett has one, Duncan has four, James Worthy has four, Dennis Rodman has 5 & Robert Horry has 7.  That has nothing to do with it cause if that's the case then Bill Russell is the best player ever to play this game cause he has 11 & nobody is close to that.   One thing about Duncan is he's always had help.  He had David Robinson & then he got Ginobili & Parker.   Garnett finally got help this year & he won it & put up I believe 65 wins.   As far as effort & playing outstanding with or without help it was Charles Barkley.  Just like others said he is 6'4" & he won an MVP & if it wasn't for Michael Jordan he would have won at least one championship.   If Jordan stayed retired Malone would have probably won 2 also.   If Shaq & Kobe could have worked out their differences Duncan would only have 1 or 2 championships he couldn't beat them.

  4. Tim Duncan 4 rings and 3 times Finals MVP

  5. Tim Duncan.

  6. tim duncan.  hes got the accomplishments and awards to match his career stats.  hes in the top of the lists in both categories in his position.

im also one of those people who believe that barkley was better than malone, but they are right there behind duncan.

  7. tim...cause of tha ring....love bark, karl, and kevin...but...RINGS

  8. well it sure as h**l aint kevin mchale. duncan would probably be it, but since everyone else is going with him, i choose bob pettit. of his 11 years in the nba, he was all nba 1st team 10 of those years. his rookie year average was 20.4 ppg and 13.8 rpg. he still holds the all star game records for most rebounds. 1 year he averaged 20.3 rebounds per game and the next year he averaged 31.1 points per game. he is the first player to eclipse the 20,000 ppg mark. 2nd in rebounds when he retired. he is credited for revolutionizing the PF position because of his scoring and rebounding. he is the predecessor for all the great PFs today.

  9. i would say barkley. he was a beast. undersized, on the dream team. never won a ring.

but rings dont say your the best player. because if they did then wouldnt robert horry be the best ever? and not duncun, for those of you who argue its about rings.

  10. tim duncan.. 4 rings

    garnett got 1 ring

    malone has none

garnett is S**t compared to duncan.. duncan's the best pf of all time

did i mention he brought the spurs a championship?? robinson was a noob and until duncna arrived he finally won his ring

  11. Tim Duncan is the best power forward ever. He created a dynasty as a Spur, he won 4 rings, compared to few by the rest. He was the most dominant PF for years, and may still be considered as the most dominant.

  12. Tim Duncan

    Shows up every game

carried his team to 4 NBA Championships

Been one of the most consistent players ever

  13. Kevin McHale? HAHA your dad is delusional.

It's Tim Duncan by far. Look at the number championships he has won as the no. 1 and best option on his team. Go to basketball reference.com and look at his consistency in stats from his rookie year tell today. His team has never had a losing record since he has been in the league.

He might not be the most popular or emotional player but all he has done is showed his brilliance in the paint for 10 years and going.

  14. KG KG  KG  KG  KG  KG  KG  TD  TD=KD TG haha but i think Kevin Garnett

  15. Yeah i agree wit u. it would have 2 be Tim Duncan (even though i think hes boring and i hate da spurs) but yeah he got 3 rings already and 2 mvp's ....ganrateed hall of fame.

  16. sorry to say but i have to say either Dennis Rodman or Karl Malone

Dennis Rodman: extreme rebounder, has the knowledge where to set up picks, block shots, he could penetrate through defenders and dunk.

Karl Malone: he can post up, he can shoot post-fadeaways, also a good rebounder, and could shoot a 3 pretty well.

It doesn't matter how much rings they got, cause that just proves that earned that by the teamwork from their teams.

But if u talk about being the greatest of all time, it all depends on their hard individually.

-I hoped this has helped with your question.

  17. You can make legitimate cases for Duncan, K. Malone, and Kevin McHale.  That's about it.  Anyone who says K. Garnett is just a hater.

Kevin McHale had skills unique for a PF.  He's got a great display of post-moves that was unmatched until Hakeem the Dream did in the 90's. So saying he's the best PF of all-time isn't all that far-fetched.  Just like you can make a legitimate case for Hakeem as the best C of all-time.

Tim Duncan is the best player of this era.  But then this era is weak.  Karl Malone had to face MJ and Hakeem.  Tim Duncan had to face Shaq with a player backstabbing him...   So Tim had it easy.

But, Karl Malone can't even win in a loaded team with the Lakers - probably cause some guy is backstabbing everyone by feuding and refusing to pass. If Karl Malone was a better leader, that will not have happened.

So Tim Duncan is a better leader. And when it's all summed up, Tim Duncan is the greatest PF of all time.

P.S. Rodman belongs on top of the list as well, but his personal conduct is detrimental to most teams. No teams will have Rodman as their franchise player.
