Take into account all elements of the game: arm strength, avg., OBP, fielding, everything. Who would you pick in all of baseball history and why?

  1. Roberto Clemente from the Pittsburgh Pirates.

  2. It's a toss-up between Roberto Clemente and Hank Aaron. If I had to choose for hitting it would be Aaron but it was for fielding it would be Clemente. They are both great all around players.

  3. Roberto Clemente.

3,000 hits, Hall of Fame, two world series championships-1960, 1971, absolute cannon for an arm with 100 percent accuracy, 12 gold gloves, 4 NL batting titles, .317 career batting average.

He is the best, bar none.

  4. Hands down, no competition Roberto Clemente'

anyone whoever played with, against, or had the pleasure of watching him play will totally agree.

  5. babe ruth best player ever.

  6. VLADIMIR GUERRERO!!!!!!!!!!! VLAD THE IMPALER!

  7. Ryan Church from the New York Mets!!!!!!!!

  8. 1.Hank Aaron

    2.Roberto Clemente

    3.Ichiro Suzuki

  9. KOSUKE FUCKUDOME OFF THE CUBS

  10. Nobody had a better arm than Roberto Clemente.  Multiple AllStar, multiple Gold Glove, 3000 hits... I'll take him.

I don't care if you can produce better numbers for someone else, he's my choice.

  11. i would pick hank aaron because he has obviously the most hr's of all time on the list where there are no juicers(barry bonds). he is a lifetime 300 hitter with .305. a .981 fielding percentage and only 79 errors throughout his career and 186 career assists.

  12. I'm probably forgetting somebody but here's my top 6

    1. Babe Ruth

    2. Ty Cobb

    3. Hank Aaron

    4. Roberto Clemente

    5. Frank Robinson

    6. Vlad Guerrero

  13. To me it's a choice between Hank Aaron and Babe Ruth - anyone else is quite a ways back of these two because of their offense. Ruth at his peak was the best ever, but Aaron had a better overall career. I'll pick Aaron because he was a better person off the field and dealt with a lot more hostility from fans and media than Ruth ever did.

  14. babe ruth                                                                                       his on base percentage was way higher than aarons or clementes

  15. As a former pitcher, Babe Ruth had a very good arm.  And hit .342 for a career.  Roberto Clemente topped that four times, but not for a career.  The Babe was the greatest player ever.

If you're talking about the best at playing the position of right field, then a good case for Clemente can be made.  But you also have to make cases for Edd Roush, Carl Furillo, Rocky Colavito, Roger Maris, Dave Winfield, Dwight Evans, and current star Ichiro Suzuki.  If Clemente was the best at it, it's not by a lot.

And don't forget the guy who succeeded Clemente as Pirate right fielder, Dave Parker: Before he wrecked his career with drugs, he was one of the best hitters and fielders in the game.  He was the MVP in 1978, and his All-Star Game throw was a big moment in 1979, the Pirates' last World Championship to date.  He even recovered enough to play well in Cincinnati in Oakland, showing that he was a Hall of Fame talent, if only he'd stayed clean.

And an earlier Pirate right fielder, Paul Waner.  He had over 3,000 hits, too.

  16. Babe Ruth.

Whatever little he gave away in fielding, he more than took back with his hitting.
