Who is the best starter in baseball?

I think that the best starter is Roy Halladay of the Blue Jays.

Lee from Cleveland has had a very good year but he has gotten a ton of run support and rarley pitches complete games.

Roy Halladay. He is amazing and eats away at batters and is consistent and usually provides 7 or 8 innings of great baseball. Great win totals and inning totals and complete game totals and K totals and great ERA. Halladay is easily the best considering he plays in the AL East and he plays for the Jays who provide nothing for him. He truly is amazing. And whoever says C.C. is the best really needs to look at the run support hes got. Yes hes pitched CG after CG but he gets great run support and he pitches in the NL.

He has been pretty dominant and he has great durabillity so he is the definition of a quality starter which u dont have as much these days.

Other great pitchers are Webb, Peavy, and CC in the NL as well as a few others.

In the AL its been Halladay, Lackey, and Beckett over the years

Cliff isnt bad but as you mentioned he has great run support and isnt the most durable pitcher.

So, Halladay would be a good pick as the best starter that you would want on ur team.

I love Roy Halladay, but complete games shouldnt define everything a great pitcher should be.  Its just one category.

Lee this year is the best and he should win the Cy Young, but the best starter in baseball rite now and most reliable is probably along the lines of Roy halladay, Johan Santana, Brandon Webb and CC Sabathia.

If I had to choose, I would take Johan.

well i want to say brandon webb but i guess if you wanted the pure hard facts. go with cliff lee. now to me i would pick brandon webb.  but cliff lee has been amazing.  he will probably win the cy young award. the dude is amazing. but once again that is the facts.  also cc sabathia personally now that he is on the brewers he is better.

CC MIGHT be better than Halladay, but it's close.  In a few seasons, CC will easily be the best in the league.

By the way, saying that Cliff Lee has gotten a ton of run support is bullsh*t.  He doesn't get any at all.

There are many good starters including those two.  How about Sabathia, Webb, Volquez.
