all captains are best winning captain that times, not only that captains and also his players are very good so these guys won their world cups

How would we measure best captain - I will go by the number

of times appeared in the finals as a captain and won the WC.

Llyod - 3 times in finals - 2 wins 1 loss('75,'79, '83)

Kapil - 1 time- 1 win ('83)

Border - 1 time - 1win ('87)

Imran - 1 time - 1 win ('92)

Ranatunga - 1 time - 1 win ('96)

Waugh -  1 time - 1 win ('99)

Ponting - 2 times - 2 wins ('03,'07)

If one looks closely - the captains had a solid team to back

them up, except for Kapil, Rantunga and Imran. They were

underdogs in those wc finals. Llyod had a solid team as was

Ponting. Both were expected to win - hence making it as

easy as a captain to win the game. So that leaves Kapil,

Border, Imran and Ranatunga.

Among these 4 - the most lowly placed was the team led by

Kapil - hence they were the highly rated underdogs. Hence

a win from Kapil stands out the most.

Ricky ponting he is greatest and he is the one who have played 4 world cup finals in which australia won 3 time the 1st in 1996 , 2nd in 1999 inthis two world cup he was a member but in 2003 & 2007 he captained aussie and won so by far he is the best winning captain of world cup

It is no doubt Kapil Dev. He made history with the paltry side that he had then. No other world cup captain can claim to have done that. Next comes, Ranatunga. He emulated Kapil Dev. He not only challenged Australians, but also had trounced them with the limited resources he had at his disposal.

well going on the numbers it would be ponting and lloyd as they are the only ones to captain his side to the cup twice, imran and waugh lead their sides back from the brink of elimination to win and border, dev and ranatunga lead sides that were weaker on paper to the top prize

personally i will say border, cos when you look at that team on paper and they quality of sides they were playing and the fact they won it conditions that were a long way from what they were used to, i honestly dont think we should he won that world cup, yet we did!
