Who is the better basketball team?

Who is the better basketball team? the Pheonix Suns or the LA Lakers??

The Lakers are clearly better, and I'm a Celtics fan.

While LA doens't exactly play stellar defense by any means, their D is still MUCH better than Phoenix's porous D.

While we can do these comparisons all day and argue over them, the bottom line is that the Lakers have a much better defensive team AND they have Kobe.  Even though Shaq could be better than Bynum, if the supporting casts are even close, then you have to give LA the edge because of the things Kobe can do to impact a game.

Besides, the Suns lost in the first round; the Lakers are the class of the west right now.

1) We don't know if the Lakers' players will stay healthy.

2) We don't know the Suns will play as good with their new coach.

Idk because the lakers have kobe, gasol, odom, and fisher. they are all way good. The Suns just have Nash holding up the team. Shaq doesn't do much yet both teams do very well in the playoffs

Before this season, the Suns by far. But losing a great defender in Marion for an old version of Shaq didn't prove to help a lot in the playoffs. Both Shaq and Nash are past their primes while the Lakers have Bryant, Gasol, and Odom currently in their best years. Along with a young Bynum and solid bench the Lakers will be championship contenders for years to come if that line-up stays and remains healthy. The Suns will be rebuilding in 2-3 years. One of the Suns few bright spots though, is Amare Stoudemire (he is a beast).

the lakers got the MVP, and pau gasol... on the other hand the suns got Amare, shaq (yeah i know so what) steve, bell, grant hill, barbosa. the lakers would be **** with out kobe and the suns would probably be moved to a different state if they didnt have amare, shaq, steve and hill. so they are even id say. the only difference is kobe.

Right now, it's the Lakers. They have the best player in the world in Kobe Bryant, they have an up and coming center in Aandrew Bynum, a world class PF/C in Pau Gasol, and reliable veterans in Derek Fisher, Chris Mihm, and Lamar Odom. Their young guys have also been stepping up big time. What's more, they have a balanced attack of offense and defense.

The Suns are a great team, but the loss of Shawn Marion and the addition of Shaq has not worked out so well for them. They lost a big factor in their line up, and they had to slow down just so that Shaq could catch up in their run and gun system. Plus the heart and soul of their team, Steve Nash, is getting old. The main problem with the Suns is their defense, mainly, that they don't play any.

So right now the better team is the Lakers. Let's see what will happen this season.

LAKERS WON THE REGULAR SEASON SERIES AGAINST the Suns 3-1 this past season. Including a 30pt Blowout in the Sun's opening game. The game the Lakers lost againts the Suns in January was right after Bynum went down and before Gasol came...it was the game where Kwame got boooooooed by the fans.

The Lakers are a little better. They have better coaching and they got further this year. Kobe Bryant makes a big difference as well. Pau Gasal is a good post up player and Lamar Odom plays well too.

Lakers are better, they were the 2nd best team in the NBA last year and should get better this year with a healthy Bynum and Jordan Farmar should probably get better.  The Suns on the other hand finished 6th in the Western Conference and their only improvements are that Amare Stoudemire is probably going to play power forward for a longer time and Robin Lopez is going to add some defense to their team but the Lakers are better.

Not even comparible. The Suns are a Upset Threat but the Lakers have Kobe and Pau Gasol! The Suns have a bunch of talent but they can't put it together. Maybe in 2 years I'll be saying something different?
