Who is the better captain of the Springboks? Smit or Pienaar?

Thought I'd try to encourage some healthy debate - personally I'd say its too hard to say - both inspirational captains who made their team believe in themselves, their humility & dignity guided the Boks to victory...still wasn't it just the best watching Smit lift the trophy?! I thought I was dreaming! Will be sad to see him go...

Both are obviosuly inspirational leaders of the highest calibre, but I would say that Pienaar had the most playing ability of the two.

I would say Pienaar but i am biased, i loved watching him play years ago, and i am an England fan, so was totally disappointed that we lost saturday.

i agree mate it is hard to say who is better they both brought the trothy home for u south africans(if u are sa) when and why is he retiring. i may be english but i support the springboks

Well this is a very difficult choice as has been said the both lifted the cup for SA but Been a Sharks fan my vote goes to Smit, I wonder what happens now that we won the RWC will it be a repeat of 95, I hope not, but what about this so called 50/50 % I think players should only play for thier country if the deserve to and not because you have someone say it must be a 50/50 look at what happened in the Cricket!!!!!!!!!!!

Well i'm a bit young to remember Pienaar (i was four when the Boks won with him at the helm) but have loved watching Smit's team play since he's been captain (except when they've been beating England of course)
