  1. Does it really matter? In Swaziland, every Elangeni(currency note) have a merc truck on it! It still does not matter.

I would like Mbeki's face on a R10 note. This will allow me to stomp on his face every time I feel the need.

If they do put his name on the R10, I bet they will have to print lots for there will be many dirty notes with footprints on them going around!

  2. Absolutely no idea.  Good on you for discovering that.  I did not even know that there was a watermark.

    *Edit*

I found it. He is Albert Luthuli:

"The watermark bears the facial image of Mr Albert Lutuli, the first person from Africa to be awarded a Nobel Peace Prize."

    **Edit**

T.I.  It is a watermark. You must take one page and hold it against the light, and you will see the face of a man!!

  3. Now I am also curious! I have just had a look and I can not place him! I guarantee he has a good dentist though. See that laugh? Who IS the man?

Thank you Cakes...I somehow knew you would get to the bottom of it. Now we know...not a very clear picture or easy to identify in the passport!

  4. ya man. who's that dude?  he must be really famous.

  5. They put mandela's face on a R 50.00 note but the banks complained that too many people were using it to wipe their backsides after they had been to the toilet and it was causing a health hazard to bank employees.

  6. My passport was issued last March. It has no picture of a man.

Edit: Thanks Cakes. Yepp! Its Albert Luthuli.
