Is Turkey currently ruled by fundamentalists or by liberals?

Neither the ruling party in Turkey (AKP) nor its vote base  is liberal. Not even close. AKP & Co is very similar to evangelical wing of the Republican party (USA); pro-market non-violent religious fanatics. They would  demand 'religious freedom' to organize/force/shape the society according to their own beliefs but would try to restrict other forms of freedoms.

the ruler party is Adalet ve Kalkınma Partisi (Justice and Development Party). they took the %47 of all votes in general elections in july 2007.

party dont introduce itself as conservative, but almost all deputies and ministers are conservative.
