  1. Sucheta Kriplani (born Sucheta Mazumdar) (1908-1974) was an Indian freedom fighter and politician. She became the first woman to be elected Chief Minister of a state.

  2. Smt.Suchetakriplani was the first chief minister of UP in Independent India

  3. shashikala kakodkar

  4. i am sorry to contradict and prove my friend who has replied to this question before me worng...the answer is Sucheta kirplani...and not Shashikala kakodkar...as in 1963, she sucheta  kirplani became the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, the first woman to hold that position in any Indian state....where as shashikala kakodkar is the daughter of Goa's first chief minister Dayanand Bandodkar (Bahusaheb), who ascended to power after the December 1963 elections, following a hotly-contested election which saw the polarisation of the electorate on caste and religious lines. Following her father's death in 1973, while still in office, Mrs Kakodkar became the chief minister of Goa, and continued in power till being ousted by a split within her party in early 1979...in short though it was her father who became the chief minsiter in decmber of 1963...and she became cheif minister after her fathers death in 1973...i hope i was able to answer your question correctly..and one more thing..the question should have been Who was the 1st...and not who is....
