  1. It could be Brett Farve if he were to lead the Jets to the Superbowl and let's face it, in that case we would be cheering for him to win. If you love the sport like we do, we want there to be a modernday Broadway Joe but now it would be Broadway Brett. I would love to see that happend not only for the sport, but for Brett as well. He's a regular guy like all of us, not to mention he's a walking hall of fame player, who could set records that may never be broken in this lifetime if he were to play for the next two years. If I get a chance, I'll draft him as my back-up QB in fantasy 08 as well as start a Jets WR.

  2. JERRY RICE

There will never be a WR as great as he was.....

  3. George Blanda...he played 26 seasons in the league.

  4. Sammy Baugh!

    6 time NFL passing leader

    7 All Pro selections

only player in NFL History to lead the League in Offensive, Defensive and, Special Teams Categories, simultaneously

top rated punter in NFL History

1943: led the league in passing, punting and, interceptions

only REDSKIN player EVER, to have His jersey retired(#33)

  5. Joe Namath

    Super Bowl III MVP

  6. Walter Payton

  7. I never saw Jim Brown, but the film of him is amazing.  I did see Walter Payton and Jerry Rice, and I said Payton was the best until Rice started putting up some sicko career numbers.

Don't overlook the old-time guys who went both ways.  Red Grange, Bronko Nagurski, Don Hutson, Fritz Pollard, and somebody mentioned Jim Thorpe.  Sammy Baugh was the first great quarterback, a great defensive back, and still holds the record for highest career punting average.  Led the Redskins to two titles.  In 1943 he led the NFL in passing yards, interceptions (that's of quarterbacks, not by a quarterback) AND punting yard average, an astounding achievement even then.

  8. John Elway.

  9. walter payton clrealy the best..... the cooach siad he was so good he could of played defensive back wr running back and punter if he wanted too...

  10. Jim Thorpe

  11. This is very subjective, but my vote goes to Sammy Baugh.  Most of the players today do not even compare.

  12. Joe Montana, quarterback 49ers and Chiefs. And I'm a Cowboys fan saying this. Joe Cool is a legend.
