  1. There are many great Saddlebred horses. in my opinion Wild eyed & wicked was the greatest horse. He was an 11 year old, two-timed world champion. his life was cut short before he got the chance to make it, three-time world champion. what is know today, he was injected with a mistory substance. it was a traginty. alone with his other 2 stable mates;Meet prince Charming a 2 year old gelding and kiss me an 4 year old mare. WGC CH Wild eyed & wicked was an amazing horse. luckly there were two saddlebred that did make it and recovered saftley; Cats Don't Dance a 6 year old gelding and Sassational a 3 year old filly.

  3. Umm.. i need to correct someone before i say who i think the greastest saddlebred was....

Traveller wasnt a saddlebred cross with TB... Saddlebreds orriginated from the Gallaway horses when the british first came to america. Gallaway horses were pacers.... they evoled into the Narraganset Pacer. When the Thoughobred came to america they crosses the narraganset and got the " american horse " During the Civil war the american horse developed into the kentucky Saddler... General lee's horse traveller was a kentucky saddler not a saddlebred cross... the kentucky saddler was breed to arabs and morgan and then evoled into the American Saddlebred in 1891 when the registry was established

The first purebreed american Saddlebred was not Gain's Denmark because in 1839 the american saddlebred registry was not even established, as for his sire was a Thouroughbred and he was out of a gaited mare.... there for both his parents are not asb nor is he( he was a standarbred it says it on his pedigree )... but the denmark blood line was the start of the purebreed american saddlebred...

Anyways.... I think the greatest American Saddlebred is Ch Wing Commander... because he would be the horses i would want to meet if i lived 80 years ago AND BEEN THERE TO SEE THAT GENERATION OF SHOW HORSES because both Flirtation walk (d**n-foaled 75 years ago) and CH anacacho shamrock(sire-foaled 76 years ago) both were finominal saddlebreds with finominal show records who produced top of the line competitive show horses.... like harlem globtrotter, im a newyorker, my guiness king, wild eyed and wicked..sky watch, Garland's Dream, and soo many more...

But also WGC CH Wild Eyed and Wicked... I loved this horse... i loved watching him in the ring... He was just one of thoes horses that you can just tell he was put on this earth to do one thing and thats what he did the best.... He represent everything a saddlebred should be spirt drive determination.... and undefeted... it rly struck the saddlehorse world hard when the news broke about the 5 saddlebred that were poisoned... and to find out wild eyed and wicked was one of them was rly devestating.. He just a great horse with tons of attitude... Its such a shame horse he left... but even though he left this earth... he went out on top...(that red blanket of roses never looked so good untill they put them on him)

RIP WGC CH Wild Eyed and Wicked!!, KISS ME and Meet Prince Charming

here is a video i have to put in... its makes me cry everytime...

(just to let you know... the person above me is my sister if your wondering why we picked the same horse and if we have the same video)

Ch wing comander out of Flirtation walk (foaled 75 years ago) sired by ch anacacho shamrock(foaled 76 years ago)

Wing comander died in 1969 of colic at 26...

WGC CH Wild Eyed and Wicked out of Penny's Free Spirit and sired by My genuis King... died of lethal injections in 2003

  4. If it could be a Saddlebred cross, I would say Traveller. Traveller was a Saddlebred x Thoroughbred. He was ridden during the Civil War by General Robert E. Lee.

If it had to be a pure American Saddlebred, I would say Gaine's Denmark. He was sired by the foundation sire, Denmark, out of a gaited mare. His offspring compromise around 60% of the first three volumes of the American Saddlbred registry.

  5. As recent history goes, I would have to say Wing Commander. He has sired many champions as well as being a consecutive champion himself for 5-6 years.

    *****Edit****

For the record,  CH Wing Commander would be 65 years old..he was foaled in 1943.

If anyone is interested here is some information about him...

He definitely was a legend...and there are many other great ASB's too!!

  6. no one. because there is no great american saddlebred.
