  1. daniel "rudy" ruettiger

  2. We had a teacher who played for Kent State who could kick a 70 yard field goal but severely injured his lower back his junior year and couldn't keep playing.

And the QB he roomed with could stand on the 20 and throw the ball through the opposite goal post and also throw the ball really high, sprint down the field 60 yards and turn around and catch it like a punt.  He was on roids and had too much testosterone and it clouded his judgment and he was rolling left out of the pocket and lowered his shoulder on a 330lb defensive lineman and his shoulder was completely shattered.  Never played again.

  3. Jim Thorpe.

  4. Possibly the greatest college player never to go to the NFL is Ron Simmons, one of the greatest players to ever play for FSU.  Another is Charlie Ward, quarterback for FSU who also won the Heisman never went to the NFL although he did play pro ball for the NBA Knicks.  Tommie Frazier the great Heisman trophy quarterback for Nebraska never played in the NFL.  Todd Helton MLB star for the Colorado Rockies was a starting quarterback for Tennessee before Peyton Manning arrived on campus and he never played in the NFL.  Former Georgia Tech All American quarterback Wade Mitchell turned down NFL offers and became a very successful Atlanta business man.

  5. I think tony dorsett with Pittsburgh was incredible.Good Question

  6. Chuck Norris
