  1. Lots of great ones....but Russ Jackson was the best quarter back I feel.  Lui Passaglia was the best punter and scored the most points in pro football, including the stats with NFL....Anglela Mosca was the meanest baddest linebacker with Hamilton years ago....George Reed with Saskatchewan was the best running back...all of these guys could have played in the NFL and done very well.

  2. An American named Doug Flutie

  3. The best Canadian born CFL player would have been Red Storey, a tremendous running back for the Toronto Argos back in the 30s-40s. He later went on to become perhaps the most famous ice hockey referee as well. He actually turned down offers from the Chicago Bears, so he could play hockey in winter for the Barrie Flyers(Don Cherry et al), and lacrosse in the summer to keep in shape for football. I believe he may still hold the record for touchdowns scored by one player in a Grey Cup game.

  4. The person who asked the question specifically asked for the greatest CANADIAN....stop with the American imports being mentioned here. They were great players, but he asked for CANADIANS....

That being said, I would have to say the best I ever saw (I am only 33) was Rocky DiPietro, but I would have to say the best all-time is Russ Jackson. After all, Ottawa chose to trade away a QB by the name of Ron Lancaster because there could only be one starter.

  5. Jackie Parker was the greatest player.  He could do everything.  He was the Edmonton quarterback, placekicker, and in a tight spot he went in as a defencive halfback.

The greatest Canadian was Russ Jackson.  A great player but not as versatile as Parker.

  6. Joe Poplawski of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers

  7. My all-time favorite football player, PETER DALLA RIVA was the best.

  8. Russ Jackson hands down

  9. russ jackson is the greatest far i see it

  10. Here are some famous players, make a choice.

  11. Warren Moon, no question.

  12. Russ Jackson

  13. Mike Vanderjagt.

  14. Who cares, they're all trannies.

  15. Boomer Scott  Remember Him The Greatest Linbacker to ever play for the Hamiton Tiger Cats. Right now I take care of his sister Josiphine Hromjak [Scott] who is 89 years old. OH by the way I did get to meet his sons and one of them had his 3 grey cup rings. Did I mention his 3 grey cup rings. I was blessed to try them all on all at the same time. What a absolute thrill that was. I am from Calgary and saw Doug Flutie at his best and believe he is verry verry good. And I got to see Warren Moon at his prime in Edmonton. Hands down BOOMER SCOTT. Now I must go and attend to my Mother Inlaw

Josiphine Hromjak[SCOTT]. Have a great day   GO BOOMER SCOTT!!!!

  16. #1 QUARTERBACK RUSS JACKSON

    BORN: HAMILTON

Capable of playing both defensive back and quarterback, McMaster product Russ Jackson joined the Ottawa Rough Riders in 1958 earning six all-star appearances (1962, '63, '66, '67, '68, '69).

Canada's greatest pivot really blossomed after teammate Ron Lancaster was traded to Saskatchewan, with Jackson anointed as the QB to make or break the Rough Riders' future.

Jackson claimed the Schenley Award as the CFL's outstanding player three times and as the top Canadian on four occasions, displaying a talent for pulling down the ball and dashing out of the backfield like a tailback, earning extra yards.

For Jackson, the wider CFL field was the perfect stage for his offensive exploits.

Jackson's Rough Riders made four Grey Cup appearances, winning three, including his farewell game in 1969.

He was elected to the Canadian Football Hall of Fame in 1973.
