  1. Sugar Ray Leonard,  he defeated great fighters Hearns, Hagler, Duran, & Benitez.  Won Olympic gold in 1976.   He was exciting & adapted to any style.   Lost to Duran & had the rematch & embarrassed Duran into quitting.   Had to fight the undefeated tall, long & strong Hearns & dug down deep & won by 14th round tko.   Then coming out of retirement & fighting a sound smart fight against Hagler who hadn't lost in 8 years.

  2. Easy, Roy Jones Jr, Tyson is kind of like past this generation, he was the best for a short time, while Jones was unbeatable, perhaps unhittable fro about 16 years

  3. Can't really choose. I'd say either Roy Jones or Bernard Hopkins.

  4. julio cesar chavez

    pernell whitaker

    khaosay galaxy

    floyd mayweather

    ray leonard

    tommy hearns

    george foreman

    azumah nelson

    roy jones

    bernard hopkins

    oscar de la hoya

    roberto duran

how can i choose just one?

if i have to choose, i will go with either ray leonard or roberto duran.

  5. Ruddiger~

Sugar Ray Robinson turned pro at Lightweight. Roy Jones Jr turned pro at Light Middle. Roy Jones won his Heavyweight belt over a 12 round contest. Sugar Ray Robinson fought over a scheduled 15 rounds for the Light Heavyweight title, and completed 13. He was ahead on all 3 judges' cards (7 rounds up on one), so if that fight had been over 12 runds, Ray would have won. And lets not forget that Robinson was never stretched out.

Yeah, I would say Roy Jones is the best of this generation. Was accused of ducking Michalsczewski, but to counter that, he did fight James Toney and Bernard Hopkins, and took a risk in going up to Heavyweight.

  6. Floyd Mayweather Jr. !!!!

  7. Floyd Mayweather Jr.

    No question, Enough said!!

no arguement!! there is no need for me to even defend this fact!! or explain it. how dare you ask that question....lol

  8. Roy Jones . (From the 90s on)

  9. Of this generation, i think Mike Tyson as an official boxer...

  10. Roy Jones Jr is head and shoulders above the rest of the considerations.

Jones won his first world title at middleweight, easily beating Bernard Hopkins with a broken hand to capture the IBF middleweight title. Then he moved up to Super Middleweight winning a couple of fights there, then jumping back down to Middleweight to defend his title against Thomas Tate.

Tate was a top fighter and had never been stopped prior to fighting Jones. He lost a 12 round decision to Julian Jackson who was an elite fighter in the day. But Jones made him look like an amateur.

In his next fight he jumped back up to Super middleweight and embarrassed James Toney who had never been beat, Jones won a lopsided unanimous decision and capturing the IBF Super Middleweight title. I remember one of the scores being something like 119 to 108. And we all know how good James Toney is.

He defended the title against Byrd,Pazienza,Sosa and demolished a pound for pound fighter Erik Lucas forcing Lucas corner to stop the fight in the last round. In his fight with Pazienza he is the only fighter to score shutout round, which means the aggressive Pazienza did not land a punch on Jones.

He defended his Super Middleweight title one more time against undefeated Bryant Brannon who he absolutely outclassed. Landing 7 left hooks in a row within 2 seconds all landing on the reeling Brannon, at one point Jones was hammering him so bad he stepped back and yelled at the referee to stop the fight before Brannon got hurt. The ref said continue so Jones shrugged his shoulders and went back at him hammering him to the ground and forcing the ref to jump in and stop it a few seconds later.

After that he stepped up to Light heavyweight and schooled the great Mike McCallum, allot of people myself included thought Jones could have ended his night after the 5th or 6th round but because of his massive respect for McCallum allowed him to finish the fight on his feet.

In his next fight he was DQ'd for hitting Montell Griffin after Griffin took a knee. In the next fight Jones took Griffin apart knocking him down twice in the first round, and having the doctor threaten to stop the fight after the first round, there was concern about letting him come out for the second. When he did come out Jones blasted him down again until Griffin was unable to get up earning a 2nd round KO.

After that he stayed at Light Heavyweight and beat the top fighters Virgil Hill,Otis Grant,Reggie Johnson. He also beat solid up n comers Richard Hall, Eric Harding and Derrik Harmon who went on to have successful careers after their defeats by Jones. He cleaned up the division fighting all the greats and all the mandatory challengers and up n coming fighters the division had to offer. And not only did he beat them he made it look easy.

Then he skipped Cruiserweight, went strait to heavyweight and dominated the very difficult John Ruiz. Then because Tarver had been calling him out Jones dropped the weight and went back down and defeated Antonio Tarver, it was clear the the weight loss and weight gain had affected Jones's Legs but he still pulled out the victory.

Jones then fought him again, Jones was under no obligation and nobody was really calling for it, but Jones took the rematch and lost.

It took Jones coming back down from heavyweight and starching himself to make the weight again and being 36 before someone beat him.

Jones is the best fighter of our generation and ranks up there with the all time greats of the sport. Nobody comes close to doing the things Jones has done in the ring. Even the great Sugar Ray Robinson never went up to heavyweight, he couldn’t even win a at light heavyweight.

  11. Roy Jones, his record and amazing skills put him ahead of anyone else, he dominated the middleweight, supermiddleeight and light heavyweight division with an iron fist and even went on to win the heavyweight title, no one has achieved as much as jones in this generation.

  12. I think maybe Bernard Hopkins, he is 43 and still fightn with a record of 48-5-1.....Joe Calzaghe jus about edged it against him, only coz he's 7 years younger

  13. JUST LIKE AFRO-LATIN MALE SAID- FLOYD MAYWEATHER JR.

  14. Roy Jones Jr....

His record speaks volumes about his talent, and yes, he has lost some, but I still view him as one of the best to ever do it.
