I couldn't agee with you more. When I first saw the question posted, that's exactly who came to mind. Yeah, he used to be unsportsmanlike, but that changed as he grew up along with the UFC. I personally still like Tito, but I think he's done in the UFC. I've got a source that tells me he's in talks with Affliction. Credible? I'd say so, considering The Donald is a friend of his.

well personally i would go with tito even tho he never beat chuck but hes kinda the oscar de la hoya of mma he always has the big money fights and for the most part very entertaing,also the ufc wouldnt have devolped the way it has without a charceter like tito,but u also have to consider he accompilsment are way more than almost every other fight out of the cage to ,with of course jenna jameson.

no way tito "poster boy" ortiz has done more for the sport of mma than randy couture...noone has... bar none.

he is a true ambassador who traveled all over the country trying to get it legalized, literally making his case to the courts, and senators.

randy is the all time greatest fighter in ufc history in my opinion. he's beaten everyone there is to beat who's worth beating practically...and in more than one weight division. and well...he literally spanked tito's *ss...that's just priceless.

and he did it all respectfully, honestly, and without having to flap his jaws all day long about his opponent. not to mention....he's twice everyone else's age!!! the greatest.

all i ever saw tito do was run his mouth, and talk smack about everyone. if he's so much better why does he feel the need to "get in their head"? ...not saying he wasnt a good fighter...but the greatest? no way.

as far as fighting goes in that specific weight class, other than randy i'd go with chuck. he's a tough b*****d and tito can't beat him on his worst day...which afterall is what the ufc is all about right?

Frank and Ken Shamrock are cool!

Ken lost because Ken was old and had injures. Tito got creamed by Frank Shamrock. Tito had a tough time against Rashad Evens. In a rematch Rashad will win. But Tito is a fighter who needs to be appreciated because he puts his life out on the line for our entertainment. So he is alright. He has an attitude but we have to forgive him. I think in Pride he would of been out of his league.

Heres why: I am a big fan of Tito Ortiz but he often fought middle weights fighting in the light heavyweight division. Most of them were cans. The only good guys he has beat were Belfort, Silva, and Griffin. He laid on top of Silva for 5 rounds and the fights against Griffin and Belfort were really close.

You made that question tough didn't you.  If you asked which weight division in MMA has historically been the greatest in the UFC, I would've picked light heavy weight.

Me and Dr. Whigh are being honest.  When I read your question Tito was the first to pop into my mind also.  Even before I opening your question and description.  I bet any long term fan at least hand that cross their brain - first instinct you know.

think he was the hottest right at the sports cusp in the new format when fighters started getting paid a lot and reasonable rules were implemented.  Also, if you look at his record.  He's never scooped up an unworthy opponent.  He always fights somebody really tough.

To be fair, though - you can't just say one person is the greatest.  You can't name the best football player, the best base ball player, or really the best at any sport.

Frank Shamrock retired 5 time defender and I personally enjoyed his fights much more than Tito's. He's a much more rounded fighter than Tito and actually beat him early on in his career. I really don't care for Tito's lack of sportsmanship attitude after winning a fight and enjoy watching him get beat because of it. It was hilarious to see him almost cry the first time Chuck whooped his ***.

kick @ss fighter indeed but the record for cosecutive title defences is Five which was set by him and tied by Matt Hughes. I think the greatest LHW in UFC history is Chuck LIddel. He Beat Tito twice Bobalu twice. Well he beat just about every one. And I do think Chuck has done just as much and Randy has done more
