Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar is my favorite cricketer and I think most people on earth will join me when I say that.

Many a time has a publicity-seeking writer tried to write off the champion but they had all forgotten something- Champions stay! There are very little people on earth who make you feel heaven on earth. Watching Sachin run around the field and scamper between the wickets at an age of 34 years, I can't help but wonder as to how it feels to be in the same ground as him? Though I am not fortunate enough to have achieved that, I am more than blessed along with all of you to have lived in the era of Tendulkar.

He square cuts and the ball stays hit. Ah! The flick off the pads- show me a better player of the shot and I'll eat my hat. The paddle sweep of the Champion himself is a shot he has never got out off. Cover drives, pulls what not? And yeah I forgot something. Not even what people call God can play the straight drive better than Sachin Tendulkar. How many times have we seen the straight bat of his follow through after an astonishingly straight dive off world class fast bowlers and wondered- "Is this how God looks like?"

Probably the sports person with the most number of articles written about him. An immaculate personality off the field. Not so much as a word against his critics but yeah why should he talk when his bat does all the talking? I mean 41 tons and 80 odd fifties and 15000 runs-Monumental!! I think it is only natural that people want him off the field. Let me tell you form is temporary but class is permanent. Sachin is class.

Ian Bishop went to the dressing room after bing hit for a six off his last ball to lose the game. Sir Viv Richards walked in and Ian told him "That kid who hit me for a six over long on- amazing. What was his name?" Sachin. Sidhu warned Sachin that the pitch was behaving awkward and he should stay well inside his crease and the next ball Sachin steps down and hits Ambrose for six.

I mean some people read the game better than the others. They do something that lifts your heart and takes you into a different level of the sport. You feel it when Federer waltzes the court. You feel it when Beethoven's music is heard. You feel it when Sachin plays his backfoot defence.

Guess who pulled Andrew Caddick for six (Alan Wilkins calls it the best ever shot played in International Cricket)? Henry Olonga and Travis Friend were demolished when people thought they were getting the better of him. But Sachin has hardly lost a battle. Now, teams are starting to feel his wrath once again as he goes about punishing the bowlers as if he wants to make a statement before he leaves.

I know I definitely will never see a better cricketer. None ever will. Harsha Bhogle says he is not just a batsman but a persona who lifts the spirit of the whole team and makes them believe they can win. In an interview he said: "During the lunch break of the 2003 world cut final Sachin asked his teammates if they will be able to score a boundary off every over. They agreed and now the target had reduced 160 off 250 balls. And when asked who will take the attack to the Aussie bowlers, Sachin said he will do it and he showed his intentions the first ball itself. We may have lost the cup but we didn't fall flat- thanks to sachin. I think he is the best cricketer ever."

To us Indians, the Taj Mahal may be an ordinary building but to a foreigner it is beauty, a wonder. He would sit in front of it for one whole day and admire it. The same is for Sachin. There are few Indians who think he is not a good batsman but the cricketers around the world still fear playing against the little master.

Any day I'll pay just to watch the maestro in action. Show me just his straight drive and I will pay you a thousand bucks. There are somethings words cannot sufficiently describe- sachin is one of them.

In short, Sachin is God.
