  1. vera zvonareva & nicole vaidisova.

    LOL

nah it's a shuffle between serena & sharapova. when they meet at a slam again, i should be able to make my mind.

  2. It was Henin by far but since she's gone I guess Sharapova and Serena are the strongest now. Serena was the strongest by far a few years ago but she sometimes lets errors creep into her game these days at the worst possible times but she's still mentally tougher than most of the other girls and she seems to have Sharapova's number whenever they meet but Sharapova against everybody except the Williams Sisters is very mentally tough.

  3. maria sharapova.....

she almost beat serena in charleston...

just that she commited too many unforced error..

but she gonna beat the williams sister soon....

  4. I think that Sharapova is really good, however I think that Ana Ivanovic and Jelena Jankovic are doing really well.

  5. Probably Serena Williams, followed by Maria Sharapova.  I put Williams first because she has proven that even when she has not played in a long time or is even in decent shape, she can still will herself to win grand slam titles.  I like Maria more though (I don't like Serena actually).

  6. Svelatana kuznetsova!!

  7. Yes i agree, Maria Sharapova.

  8. I agree with the poster above me, Serena is definitely the toughest player mentally. Granite she has had her lows in some of her matches, but she has this uncanny ability to bounce back, never give up, keep fighting until it's over and that makes her mentally tougher than anybody. Serena might get a little ticked during her matches but you cannot deny her fighting spirit.

  9. Maria is tough put the toughest are still the William sisters.

they still believe that they are contenders for all grand slams and that they can beat anyone on any given day. and with Serena's win in the Aussie Open last year and Venus's fourth Wimbledon title last year i think they are not the best players but both are mentally the toughest!

  10. HENIN, she was mentally tough, but I disagree, Maria isn't the toughest, Jankovic is tougher.

  11. Maria Sharapova

  12. yes! maria sharapova!

  13. Serena is undoubtedly the mentally toughest WTA tennis player. Although, she's had bouts of self doubt and dips in confidence she bounces back stronger and that's true mental toughnest.

Her competitive stat is the best of all the top women in the history of women's tennis. She trails only 7 girls in head to head match ups and of those 7 only  4 of those girls are currently active.

Of those 7 only one player has more than one win over her and that is the retired Arantxa Sanchez Vicario who leads their head to head series 4-3.

Unlike Sharapova, who's bravest comebacks have been against lower ranked players such as Pin, Garrigues, Washington, and Schnyder. Serena's saved match points and went on to win in big matches against top players and former #1's like Capriati (saving 8 match points), Clijsters (saving 3 match points and rallying from 1-5 down in the third set), Hingis, Henin, Sharapova (saving 3 match points), Davenport, and Graf. That is why i would put Serena first, followed by Sharapova.

Serena's also given two contenders for the mentally toughest the worst losses of their careers. Justine Henin her worst loss as #1 and the worst loss for a female #1 (6-2 6-0 in Miami) and Sharapova her worst loss at a grand slam (6-1 6-2 in Australia).

When Serena is mentally determined, there is none tougher.

  14. Maria.

  15. I agree: Sharapova has an amazing toughness, that's what is so appealing about her.

  16. It used to be Henin.

  17. maria. serena as well when she's playing well. and you may not think so,but i also would put jelena jankovic in that mix as well.

  18. sharapova

    I have her autograph!
