  1. Not Bobby Fisher.


  2. Like many academic areas of science or math, the discoverer of the formula or invention is not credited until after their death. Albert Einstein was not very famous while living, but is one of the best known physicists of all time now after his death. Chess is very comparable, I doubt anyone has heard of the 2007 chess champion of the world, Viswanathan Anand. And yes, I would have said Bobby Fischer, but that does really fall under the category of living.
