Wayne Carey and Ben Cousins are just as bad as each other. they were made out as icons and heroes for the children of their generation who followed the sport, now they have ruined and tarnished the great game of AFL

Football has produced its fair share of if high profile identities over the years that have done shameful acts.  Including Polly Farmer, Ian Stewart, Maurice Riolli etc.  It is an interesting list if one cares to remember.

However with the way news is reported in this day and age there is now no smothering or downplaying of any acts.  On the contrary it is continually taken to a new level.  With every possible spin and outcome determined prior to any conviction.

We all thought the coverage that Cousins received was amazing, even to the extent his poor Father was having trouble keeping up with the whereabouts of his son.

It was well known within the football circles that Carey was in trouble late last year but it was hushed up.  Now the floodgates have opened and he has been engulfed by his own.

I say howvever that anyone who can hit a female is a piece of garbage but anyone that at 193 cm and 100kg that needs to hit a female with a glass is not only shameful but has real problems and should be placed in permanent exile.  He is not needed anywhere, except of course a Florida jail.

Your question is too easy. Right now it has to be poor old Wayne Carey. Ablett may have been irresponsible and stupid in luring a young, impressionable, cow eyed female fan into a hotel room and plying her with drugs but, she was a willing victim and he intended no harm. Cousins is less of a candidate because his stupidity has only ever hurt himself. Wayne on the other hand seems to have caused problems to every woman he's ever come within 50 yards of. I pitty him though as I do anyone with that much attention on their personal lives (particularly someone like Ablett who is such a shy retiring type). Fame and fortune has its undoubted advantages but I doubt that I'd trade my anonymity for it.

all kids make mistakes, and coaching staff are in loco parentis to new recruits - need to make it clear that one mistake in each field of activity is the last one.if North suspended Carey for assaulting the lass in the street in 1996 - when he was ONLY about 25 - they may have prevented the awful mess they had in 2002, if Carey had got the picture that mistreating and pressuring women is wrong.
