Who is the most underrated manager in baseball?

I think Mike Scioscia is severly underrated and his team just flies under the radar even with the best record in baseball. They're not a team loaded with superstar players. They're just a team that plays well together and does what it can to win ball games.

  1. the guy from tha angels i forget his name dat shows u how underated

    anwser my question

    http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?...

    EDIT

    thanks mike sciosia

  2. Ron Gardenhire....Guy has brought the Twins to the Playoffs 4 times in his 6 years as Manager and with one of the Lowest Budget teams in Baseball he seems to pull guys out of his @$$ when they need help and That random player usually gives to what they need ex. Alexi Casilla 38 RBIs in about 30 games of Baseball...wait im an Idiot...I didn't bring up the fact that he had to give away Johan Santana and Torii Hunter yet still is winning

  3. I agree with you that Mike Scioscia is underrated.  Tony LaRussa maybe #2.

I would consider Joe Torre to be the most overrated manager.

  4. I'm gunna have to go with the Met's current manager Jerry Manuel.  Ever since Willie's been gone they've been streaking.  At first he was pretty bad and some of the players weren't happy, but now they're back to playing great baseball.

  5. i agree with you but i also think lou piniella people dont like him cuz he argues a lot

  6. Ha when I read this question I immediately went "Mike Soiscia". You are definitely right. I think the main reason is that he has managed to get the Angels to have the best record in baseball in the American League with a NL style of play. Practically every other team in the AL has some big mashers but the Angels really don't. Yea they got Vlad and Hunter but they aren't 40 homer bats. Scioscia has gotten these players to use the fundamentals of the game to the max. Advancing to 3rd on a single, stealing second, stretching a single into a double, etc. I think Gardenhire is also up there for similar reasons.

  7. You're right all the way. You never hear ANYTHING about Scioscia and the Angels - and they have the best record in baseball.

  8. You were right on there. Since I can't argue that one I'll give the runner-ups.

2nd--Bob Melvin, Arizona. Believe it or not, Arizona is still one of the best in the NL.

3rd--Fredi Gonzalez, Florida. Most people probably don't know who this guy is. To be honest, I had to look up who the Marlin's manager was. He took a team full of no names, and Hanley Ramirez, and got them to (currently) 5 games over .500.

I would list Joe Maddon(Tampa Bay) but I would give more credit to their Scouting Director and their GM than him.

SchwaaSports...Ned Yost is awful. He didn't do much anything to contribute to last week's wins. You obviously didn't see or hear about today's game. He doesn't know when a pitcher is ahem, struggling. 7 ER in one inning, cough cough.

  9. Ned Yost of the Milwaukee Brewers is underrated his team is tied for first and no body seems to realize him. I also think Mike Scioscia and Joe Maddon.

  10. How about Joe Maddon?Anybody expect Tampa Bay to be where they are?The Angels aren't any surprise. They have some big time talent on their roster. But nobody, but nobody picked the Rays to be fighting with the Red Sox for first place..it isn't Sciocia, brother. It's Maddon. And he will win Manager Of The Year.

****Funny how it's the draft picks and front office doing it for the Rays and not Maddon. It isn't whether or not he's a great manager,it's a matter of being underrated. If having high draft picks consistently were the answer,Pittsburgh would be in a World Series by now.The Angels were expected to be right where they are. They've got Chone Figgins,Torii Hunter,Vladimir Guerrero and a pitching staff led by Ervin Santana and arguably the best closer in baseball today. Those guys aren't stiffs, you know.So how underrated could Sciosia be?He's got them right at the level they should be.If you want another underrated guy-Ron Gardenhire. The Twins have sold off a couple of their best guys, they won't bring up Liriano-who is lights out in AAA-and they are still in the hunt for their division.***

  11. I agree with Mike Scioscia (Angels) and I would also say...

    Ned Yost (Brewers)!

The Brewers won 9 of their last 10!  Braun is on fire, Sabathia's winning games and the brewers are only 1 GAME OUT!

No one's looking on really amazed how good the Brewers are doing!  They could be the best in baseball this month!

    Good Question!

  12. agree, let me tell, mike scioscia, thats my guy, i mean best record in baseball, and people talk about yankees and rays and red sox.

  13. Yes, Sciosia is underated, but Ron Gardenhire gets even less notariety than him. The guy in Florida, Freddi Gonzalez is another underrated manager.

Charlie Manual in Philadelphia and Joe Torre are over-rated.

  14. you have to give props to the Phillies Charlie Manuel. He has done a great job these past few years and he deserves more credit than what he has gotten.

  15. Ron Gardenhire (Minnesota Twins)

Year after year, he keeps his team in the thick of things, although they keep losing their marquee players to teams with more money.

  16. I felt the same way until i found out that a lot of people actually have a huge respect for MS than i thought..

so i think he does get love from diff ballclubs, fans, and sports analysts.

i think the underrated manager in baseball goes to Ron Gardenhire or Ned Yost oh yeah and Gonzalez from Marlins ^^

    i agree down there!
