Who is the most underrated player in the MLB? My pick is Mark DeRosa on the Cubs. So far in 2008 he has 18 HR's, 79 RBI's, is batting .293, and can play six different positions.

  1. Kevin Youkilis!

Can play any position in the infield, probably the best power hitter on the red sox. and is a great contact hitter too, he should be considered for MVP, but he probably won't because he doesn't have 35 home runs.

  2. Randy Winn .308 9hr 58 rbis 25sb in 27 attempts. Pretty good line for a guy on such a bad team. I think any contender would benefit from having Winn on the team, I'm surprised no one tried to snatch him from the Giants.

edit: wow Aubrey Huff is a great choice, his name didn't even cross my mind.

  3. TIM LINCECUM RANDY WINN & JONATHAN SANCHEZ GO GIANTS

  4. Raul Ibanez.

  5. Corey Hart

    .288 average

    149 hits

    20 HR

    5 Triples

    40 Doubles (2nd in NL)

    81 RBI

    73 Runs

    22 Stolen bases

Those are some great numbers, but it's hard to get noticed on a team with Braun, Sabathia, Fielder, Sheets, and Hardy.

  6. Michael Young.

  7. Probably Aubrey Huff. He's got .307 AVG, 29 HR, and 94 RBIS. He can also play a lot of different positions.

  8. Jorge Cantu

    Stats for 08:

    277 BA

    22 HR

    72 RBI

    73 RUNS

Hes been great for the Marlins.

  9. i always thought Nick Punto was underrated. He's a great fielder and he has nice numbers. Same with Brian Roberts

oh yeah and Ervin Santana has GREAT stuff..  biiig difference from last year.

  10. Tim Lincecum just because he's on a bad team

  11. DeRosa is certainly having a great year. I'd argue that their catcher, Soto, is their MVP.  Not too many people know about him, but he's the best catcher in baseball.

  12. Jason Bartlett  ss for the Rays, doesn't have great numbers, just hit his 1st HR yesterday, but the Rays are something like 25 games over 500 with him in the line-up and 8 or 9 below without him

  13. Ill pick Placido Polanco.  This 2nd baseman quietly hits above .300 year in, year out.  But gets no praise what so ever.

  14. Carlos Quentin !

I mean I'm not a WhiteSox fan but this guy has 36 HR, 100 RBI's, 95 runs, .288 BAA and he rarely gets praise. He should be getting some MVP consideration.

  15. by the first answerer's logic then jake peavy must be really underrated for playing for the last place padres(sarcasm). i think hunter pence is underrated

  16. Stephen Drew

  17. lastings milledge

  18. How about Milton Bradley, Ian Kinsler Michael Young and David Murphy the Texas pitching is so bad all the Texas offensive players the best offense in baseball. And their run differential i.e.(runs scored minus runs allowed) is still negative

  19. jermaine dye of the white sox

  20. To the guy above me, first of all Soto is not UNDERRATED. That is what this article is about.  Second of all the best catcher in baseball is Joe Mauer. The most underrated player in baseball is probably Aubry Huff because how many of you ever heard his name?? Im not an Orioles fan but that stat line is just as good as anyones. Derosa is having  a good year but there are much better out there.
