  1. Maybe Sean Kingston. He is only 18 years old,but he seems very intent on becoming the newest superstar from Jamaica.I guess we will find out soon enough!

  2. I KNOW!! yo i respect da fact he biggin up jamaica, but y is he lying and sayin he was born here?...and he said he went to a high school but dont remember the name? dat a foolishness...anyways imma go with tami chin..i want her 2 go 2 america n get big big yo,or even alaine but..d'angel fi sid dung

  3. Mr Vegas...He does not have the "look" but he has the appeal to the masses, a lot of radio stations played and still play heads high...

Tammi Chin, Tessane Chyn, and Aaline, they all have the potential but, have to get the US exposure. As of now, they are not being played on US airways. There is no current media outlet for international artists, BET-J airs WICKED videos( a show filmed in the ghetto communties of Kingston Jamaica, that will take you to bembe, or to passa passa, and standpipe etc..)but the show playes more repeats than new episodes, MTV Tempo is not availible here in the US. basically, good talent sits undiscovered until a dj discovers a record, that has feel good tracks, that one can groove to, and understand the lyrics, a " club-banger".

In order to make it in reggae music abroad, you have to have crossover appeal. meaning , the white American radio stations have to feel you and want to play your music. You have to still have the reggae feel and still be able to understood, and not look " threatening".  You cannot be too political and too rootsy. You can not talk about crime, poverty or any Jamaican issues. (Damian Marley, can because he is a MARLEY, son of BOB, the man that brought world issues and political world issues to the forefront. Bob of which has/had mass white appeal. besides BOB broke barriers during a time when the world more over was more political, more anti-oppression, it was the pre-crack era, the  60's, 70's and early 80's, were all about peace, love , group s*x, and drugs)WHY??? Americans don't want to hear about that and could care less, they want to hear music, with good beats, and music that they think they know the words too.(IE, Shaggy-It wasn't me, or Mr Boombastic, or Sean Paul's tune wid Keisha Cole, or Beyonce, and that other one(cant remember the name), I don't think its a surprise that Sean Paul and Shaggy have the "look" that they have. Can you imagine them having Kartel or Movado on Good Morning America or on MTV doing a countdown....Not GONNA HAPPEN!!!! It's a sad but, true fact, our ghetto heros of Jamaica will never win that crossover appeal battle, unless they sell out and conform to American standards
