  1. btw i saw the chad dawson, glen johnson fight, glen should have won and was robbed by the judges, so in my list i would rank johnson above dawson

  2. I think you have to have the ratings like this in view of recent events:

    1. Joe Calzaghe

    2. Bernard Hopkins

    3. Chad Dawson

    4. Antonio Tarver

    5. Glen Johnson

    6. Roy Jones Jr.

    7. Zsolt Erdei

    8. Adrian Diacanu

    9. Juergen Braehmer

    10. Clinton Woods

Joe beat the man so he should be the man.

  3. I guess Calzaghe has to be now (in terms of ranking anyway). Hopkins is still the best light heavy out there in my opinion but i would think Calzazghe has to be ranked number 1 now. Also im not impressed with Dawson at all he looked horrible in his last fight and he will get beat soon.

  4. Joe Calzaghe is the number one guy because he just beat the true champion.  Bernard Hopkins won the true championship from Antonio Tarver, and Calzaghe just beat Hopkins, therefore, he's the new champion regardless of all these other paper titles out there.  Out of all of the alphabet soup titlists, I would have Chad Dawson as the best, but until somebody beats Calzaghe, or he retires, I won't recognize anyone else as the real champion at 175.

  5. In my opinion it would be Chad Dawson, followed by Glenn Johnson and Antonio Tarver.

Bernard Hopkins has only won 1 fight as a light heavyweight, and Calzaghe has only beaten him at the weight.

I think, and am excited, that boxing is moving to a point where catch-weights and public recognized champions are becoming more frequent.  But you can't say that either Hopkins or Calzaghe are the best lightheavyweight in the world; I mean Hopkins beat Tarver, but so has Glen Johnson and Roy Jones, and Calzaghe's win over him is in the same category - I think you need more than 1 win in a division to be considered the best at that "weight".

  6. As much as it was padded with Warren's protection, a 45-0 record is impressive, and Joe did beat the aging Hopkins rather easily, out side of Europe.  I don't think Calzaghe would fare as well against Dawson, Johnson, Tarver or eve Haye, and until Joe takes out a couple of those guys, he will have questions at 175, that 9 lb. weight difference will be more telling against the top Lightheavyweight's than it was against the 43 year old former great middlewieght champion Joe beat in Hopkins.

That said, until somebody knocks off Calzaghe, he gets my nod as the best at 175.  You have to take the title from the champion, and Hopkins took it from Tarver only to lose it to Joe.  Until someone proved different, Joe is the man.

  7. Calzaghe. How can that guy above say that Hopkins is still the best after Calzaghe just beat him much worse than the score?

  8. Joe Calzaghe defeated Bernard Hopkins by split decision in his first ever fight in the United States to win The Ring light heavyweight championship

If you win the ring championship, then you are considered by many fans and experts to be the best in your weight group
