  4. MAYWEATHER,WHY WOULD WE BELIEVE A GUY WHO CRIES WOLF.HE IS NOT RETIRED

  5. wladimir or pavlik or joe superman calzaghe !plus check in olympics of 2008 some new armenian, russian, ukrainian boxers u will be impressed trust me!

  6. mayweather , dont believe a word of it when he says he has retired........ watch this space!!!

  7. RIGHT NOW ACTIVE I WOULD SAY COTTO OTHER THAN THAT IT HAS TO BE PRETTY BOY FLOYD GOAT NO ONE CAN STOP THE WAY HE FIGHTS

  8. Joe Calzaghe.

  9. Thumbs up to Woody, I agree, Manny Pacquiao gets my number one spot, followed closely by Cotto, and I give Kelly Pavlik the number three spot.  Joe Calzaghe in my opinion still hasn't faced any serious threat and is maybe the most protected fighter since Mike Tyson.  Joe will actually have to face a prime contender under the age of 40 before I consider him more than an over inflated record.

  10. Manny Pacquiao - He's the man right now.

He's also number 1 on ring magazines pound for pounds ratings.

  11. miguel cotto hands down I have never seen anyone go to the body so much.

also I think he has the current long distinction of making other boxers quit fighting after bouts with him ckeck it out its on record

  12. Manny Pacquiao no doubt!

  13. Hmmm. This is such a tough question, there are so many arguments to be made for a couple of boxers:

Manny Pacquiao - Hard to argue with the man's credentials. Continues to move up in weight and be a dominant fighter. Has left HOF's Barrera, Morales, and JMM in his wake. However, he may not even be the top fighter at 135 (I think Nate Campbell is the man here even at 35 y.o. Cas may be done, but we will see what he does against Marquez.)  But, based on the strength of his recent performances, including that obliteration of fairly talented, recognized champion David Diaz, (man, that was just a good old fashioned ***-kicking) Manny has the best argument right now.

Miguel Cotto - Fearsome body attack.  Underrated defense/movement.  Willing to take on all comers. Miguel Cotto Also has a good argument, and credentials to be a top guy (Big wins over ultra talented but dumb-as-a-bag-of-hammers Zab Judah, and Shane Mosley). This fight with Margarito will go a long way to determine where he ranks, as will his next fight, be it with Oscar or Josh Clottey, should Clottey get past Zab.  Either way, Cotto, in terms of boxing skill and ability, should be right at the top.

Ivan Calderon - How bout some love for the little guy? Is there a, slicker, smoother, more technically sound fighter in the game than "iron boy"? For that matter, has there ever been? No, he's not gonna wow you with power, he just doesnt knock people out, and that will certainly turn people off (come on guys, he's 105 pounds for cripes sake!). But I can guarantee you, if you looked up boxer in the dictionary, or you wanted to put together an instructional video on how to box, this kid would be all over the cover. He's just that good. If he were even a little bigger, maybe even 122, he would get way more pub. As it is, his perfect record, even devoid of a high number of knockouts, speaks volumes about his skills.

Honorable mention: Kelly Pavlik (not yet, but VERY soon, especially if he handles Paul Williams).

  14. according to the ring magazine it's manny pacquiao, i think he has earned it.

  15. Well, right now, I would have to say Manny Pacquiao. Despite the level of competition that David Diaz brought, Pacquiao still performed and looked amazing in his debut at lightweight. Along with that, his outcomes with Barrera, Morales and Marquez have elevated his status.

Joe Calzaghe could be mentioned, but I'm still looking for another impressive performance within his next fight or two, especially against a prime threat, like Kelly Pavlik, Jermain Taylor or Chad Dawson. Once again, I need an impressive win from him.

Miguel Cotto is another name that could be there. Cotto looked good against Gomez, which was expected. Anyway, Cotto will have a great opportunity to sway many to thinking that he is absolutely number one, depending on how well he deals with Antonio Margarito.

Once again, I have Pacquiao in the driver's seat for number one.

  16. Miguel Cotto.

  17. I have to pick Miguel Cotto. He have fought the best of his division (Mayweather ran away). He is as of today unbeatable and he will get the chance to show everyone how good he is against Margarito.

  18. Super Joe Calzaghe!
