  1. I know the oldest guy to try to get into the field, James Hylton. Qualfying was rained out so nope he did not make it that was last year:(. Sorry I don't know!!

    he passed Schrader with 2 laps to go to win the race the 84th win of his career!!  Allison would go on to defeat son Davey at the Daytona 500 the next year at the age of 50 years old making him the oldest driver to win the 500 as well!!
