By lethal injection? I know that in the old days who ever was in charge to kill someone in an execution had to cover his face, how about now? This week there had been two executions in Texas by lethal injection so I am curious now?

  1. Depends on where it is.  Normally a prison nurse or medical professional inserts the actual needle but the sentence can be carried out by the warden or someone that the governor deems to be qualified.

  2. each state has detailed protocols about what happens in the last hours. who does what, and who oversees it is speficied there.

but names are generally not available as far as I know. just the role, not the individual. much of it happens out of view anyway.

there is not a single "syringe" - more like a series of drip lines, which are empty when inserted.

then behind the scenes, in very specific amounts, and in a very specific timed sequence, chemicals are released into the empty tubes and then they flow into the prisoner.

  3. there is a executioner appointed to flip the switch  the chemicals are actual injected by machine under the supervision of a doctor
